I'm sure with enough money and know how it can be done but why? With a tune the stock trans. is pretty good and you can have it built up for high HP if needed.

If Marauders had the option of a six speed manual. I would have looked for one. Rowing through the gears is one the best feelings while driving an awesome car. And the MM is awesome. About 4 years ago I came across a 1996 Impala SS that had a 6sp conversion. I so badly wanted to buy it but it had well over 120,000 miles on it :( Too bad our MM's didn't have that option. I have seen plenty of Crown Vics And GM on Youtube with 5/6sp manuals.

There's a guy on here that wasted his time and money putting a T56 in his Crown Vic but I can't remember his name.

not hard to do. if you need any info just pm me and ill help you out. i think it took me all of a day to do it and not workin very hard. what year car and what trans are you wanting to do? oh just saw t56.

in my opinion the best way to do it in a panther with a t56 is a z-28 or gto trans with cobra input shaft and bellhousing. that way you can get the shifter back far enough so you dont have this big ass handle to bring it back to where its comfy or through the console if you have one. the only part i havent figured out is what to do for the speedo. the t56 way is expensive to say the least

i used a t45 in my car and all said it cost me about 600 or so bucks for the parts. the most time consuming part was making the pedals. took me a few trys to get it right. but like i said about the shifter i had to add about 4 inches to it to bring it out the console.

heres some pics of mine.

Nice threads, but the one post about a t56 being 6k new made me cringe. I paid 2300 for my brand new t56 swapped in the mach1 back in 04... no way they went up that much in 06.

Biggest problem I see is figuring out what to do for interior look; I'm guessing an interior shop to design some kinda shift boot and some kind of a bezel would be nice...

And the custom length driveshaft, at least with a t56.

If I was to do a t56 in the marauder, unless I was going FI, I'd do the 2000 cobra R version like I did in the mach; 2.97 1st gear vs 2.66. 2.66 in an already heavy car, with 28.6" diameter tires, not gonna be pretty. You just don't need to do 75mph in 1st gear. I think these cars need a much shorter 1st gear; if you could get something like a jeep ax15 with the 3.83 1st gear and 2.33 2nd; but with a 0.6 or lower o/d, that'd be perfect...

The new 6 speed autos and manuals Ford is putting in the mustangs have awesome ratios, too bad the autos will take years of development to get a standalone controller to work with them... The manuals have a 3.66 1st and 0.65 o/d, but 5th is no longer the 0.8 like in the t56, but 1.0... that means you'll be in 5th in the quarter mile if you put bigger gears in it... and it'll feel like it hits a brick wall going from a 1.0 to a 0.65 (kinda like the stock tranny in the mach went from 1.0 to a 0.62). The autos have a 4.17 1st...

compared to our 2.87... :(

Cool thread. As my signature says, I wish the MM came with a manual. I did convert my 5.0 Mustang from AOD to 5spd (helluva a lot easier to do than a MM/CV) but I too found the hardest part was installing pedal assembly.

well it,s actualy not any worst and requires the same amount of work...
you need a tune on top of that but that is pretty much abouth it

Request more discussion and pics of the pedal assembly. I have always thought this would be the biggest hurdle to a manual conversion. Also, does the computer care if the auto is disconnected? Did you have to get it turned off via tune?

Contact Dennis Reinhart, he did a manual conversion on an MM a while back and can answer your questions.

I might sound a bit crazy here, but I think a great project would be a twin-turbo, T-56, Lincoln.
