60 miles or 1.5 hours through Reisterstown and Westminster on Route 140/Reisterstown Road. About the same distance and time to Manassas Burger King for you. :P

3yrs ago I had the front bumper re-painted due to it looking like hell. Its held up for quite a while until I simply glanced across a pillar in my garage. I didnt even notice I touched it thats how light I tapped it. Turns out it cracked all the paint off the corner of the bumper. :mad2:
I figured while its in the shop, Ill have my new spoiler painted and installed on the trunk lid.

No its my son after 6 years with the 1st Cav both at Fort Hood, at NTC, and then in Iraq during OIF.
Of course he got the Stetson, the gold spurs and the saber in recognition of his participation.

He was thinner when he rowed crew in high school and the Nationals at Stotesbury. ;)

It is actually a pic of a T-Shirt that I have somewhere mixed in with all my MM event shirts. I picked it up at the US Cavalry Store in Radcliff, KY just south of Fort Knox several years ago. I checked their on-line store; but it appears that they don't sell that one anymore.

I asked about the parking lots and the restaurant actually owns both parking lots. The lot across the street usually fills up the slowest so we can park our cars over there, but either lot is fine.
See you there.

Hey kids. Unfortunately, we're bowing out of this get together. Paul pulled something in his back and sitting in the car for a 4+ hour drive isn't the best idea at this time.

We were really looking forward to seeing everyone and I'm bummed I won't get to meet new faces but we will see you guys at Carlisle and HERSHEY!!!!!

Have fun, have a drink for me and take pics!

Likewise. My stepson came down with a 102* fever last night. Went down but remained elevated thought the nights. My wife is taking him to the doctor. So I'm solo.

See you guys soon.

Was great seeing and meeting you all! I counted 14 or so Marauders. The most I've ever seen. Unfortunately, we don't have that many on our west coast meets and none of them supercharged. Lots of cool superchargered Marauders you got there. Although, I'll be heading back west in a week, maybe I'll meet you all again someday,....maybe at a Marauderville if I can make it out to one!

Sorry, I'm not good with everyone's names. Can I get a roll call of those who were there?

I went to a Verizon store in Gettysbury (Authorized dealer). I ended up having to drive to Hanover to a real Verizon store. The other lesson I learned was to never give your kid more than one Fiber bar without having a change of clothes handy. I got home 2 hours ago, LOL!!! :(

Looks like my plan is coming together. I'll be arriving in the area the night of July 22nd, doing Gettysburg Park drive tour on the morning of the 23rd (might take my mom and dad to the ABC for lunch), heading to Antietem for the afternoon, and will be in the Mount Vernon/Manassas area on the 24th (maybe even hit Monticello). Hitting the road that night heading to Indianapolis to take my parents home. Probably stop somewhere in the middle for sleep.

I live between Mount Vernon and Manassas National Battlefield. Distance is 45 miles but not a direct route. I'll probably be working on the 24th since that is a Wednesday ...

Manassas to Monticello is 95 miles on Route 29 or 15 most of the way. About 2 hours minimum.

I dont blame you. Its nothing but congestion.

sent from space

It is only congestion when it is still moving.

Cellphones and texting have only made the problem worse with the increasing number of fender benders and rear end accidents that will screw up traffic to an unbelievable extent. Blocked lanes and flashing lights (of any color) will bring traffic in this area to a dead stop. A 15 minute episode will screw traffic up for more than an hour because of the volume and the residual effects.

MV as fun, I meant passing through. Last trip I hit early enough, but as Charlie said I got caught by an accident. Two weeks later I'm still suffering the lingering effects of not being able to get out of my car for over 3 hours. What a nightmare. I was making great time until that... :mad2:

I was originally hoping to arrive earlier but there is a group of us (mom, dad, my brother, my other brother, my neice, my sister) so I had to go with the majority of the people's schedules. We are renting an Econoline van for the long drive.

It took 2 hours to get from Gettysburg to Manassas. Didn't have time to stop at Antietem.

Heading from Mount Vernon to Monticello we hit construction with a bunch of lanes merging into one. Lost an hour there sitting in stop and go traffic. Was another 2 hours on top of that to get to Monticello. Passed by Chancellorsville but didn't have time to stop.

Other than that, didn't hit any other traffic jams. Avoided Pittsburgh by going south and then back up north since would have been rush hour time.

The Econoline van was perfect for such a long road trip. Lots of room for luggage, lots of passenger room, some of the passengers could sleep by laying down, etc. And the gas tank is so huge you don't have to stop very often to get gas as you would think. However, each fill up was a bit pricey because you are filling a larger gas tank.
