2004's have:
DUAL KNOCK SENSOR's - this allows revised spark timing and more low end torque

NEW TRANSMISSION - well, not completely new, but it's a revised version of the older one with increased torque capacity and can now downshift to 1st gear at higher speeds then the old one.

TRACTION CONTROL - standard on 2004 and on later production 2003's (300B)

HEATED SEATS - available on 2004 and later production 2003's (300B)

DARK TOREADOR RED - New color, looks great

A few items have been taken away though...

REMOTE FUEL DOOR - Gone
FULL SIZE SPARE - Gone
BLUE - Gone

That's all I can think of, anybody else know of anything different?

Only '03 300A's have the pockets in front of the seats and the standalone clock in the dash. That's been discussed in many 300a/300b threads.

One more thing that has been mentioned in at least one thread is the 2004 PCM does not have the connector and notch in the cover for access to install a chip, requiring a download via the diagnostic port instead of a chip installation.

Oh, and the moonroof is supposedly available on new 2004s (is this another 300a/300b thing?) starting in December.

The overhead counsole on the 2004 is shorter perhaps to accomodate the sun roof option. All other physical features are the same sheetmetal, wheels ect.

not to confuse the guy, but to keep the historical record straight, the first 300Bs had the traction control, and everything else the 300As had, except a full size spare.

The "decontenting" of the other items in 300Bs didn't start until sometime after November 2002 or so.

Marty, Cruser, a few others and I don't want to have to keep explaining our cars to people 10 plus years from now. ;)

You would think no two Marauders are alike?

i think the metal is thicker on the 03 MM'S and i believe the tires hold more air. and the heated seats are a noticable 1 degree hotter!

No.

Now, if you ask a watch maker about a Swiss watch, you're going to get the inside skinny, but for most consumers, it will still be a just a fine watch. So, to answer your question...

No. Nothng notable.

Yes, because all the early 300eh's are like the early 300Bs, I fully understand.

Maybe they should really have called the Canadian Marauder 300eh, just for the Halibut

Yes, they cod have, if they wanted to, but they'd just end up singing a different tuna.

A friend purchased an '04, I noticed that the valve cover didn't have the badge "32 Valve Intertech".
I made him aware of it, & he fought w/ the dealer to get it.
The dealer stated that it was no longer availalble & he could not order it.
He had the dealer pull it off an '03 model & handed it to him to install, it bolted right on on.
Are ALL '04s lacking this badge??

I'm not sure, but I would assume so because my 04 doesn't have that badge on the engine either. I didn't even know the 03's had the engine badge, although I guess it's not that big of a deal. It's a pretty nice looking engine and it doesn't need any fancy badging to let people know what it's true purpose is :)

FYI,
The '04 brochure shows the badge on the engine.

Can you give someone the VIN number to tell what you really have? Someone said it was on the original window sticker? If so where? A verses B continues.

My 03 has the small spare, Map pouches, seperate clock, 6 cd, fuel door remote, traction control, hood light, no organiser only cargo net.

Thanks for pointing that out, because i'll have to check an 04 Marauder brochure. I know my 04 Marauder doesn't have the badge on the engine, and maybe i'll be able to use the brochure and force them to at least give me one as a warranty repair...............

you can't go by the brochures. The '03 brochure from the spring of '02 shows a traction control switch on the dash as well, when there was no traction control on a Marauder

Some additional content deletions on the 2004's:
- Black powdercoating on cam covers deleted;
- Underhood light deleted;
- Engine nameplate deleted (as mentioned already).
Now, with regards to the engine nameplate- these do NOT bolt on. They stick on, with adhesive on the back. And, they are only a very thin embossed piece of aluminum.
So, 1) You can not pull one off, without destroying it, and 2) There is no way that you bolt one on (unless it is still affixed to the cam cover that it was originally attached to).
The transmission torque capacity has also been increased, hence the 4R75W designation (replacing the 2003 4R70W). The first and second gear ratios have been revised to provide better low-end launch feel (torque multiplication).
Plus, all the other details already covered...

Sorry to disagree on this one, but, my 2003 blue does NOT have auto brake release, stand alone clock, remote fuel door release, map pockets or a full sized spare. Did you mean 02's? Also, 04's do not come in blue as it was replaced with DTR in 04.

SteveB - Welcome aboard. Enjoy your new ride. Your 300B was built during the transition from A to B. There are several members of this board with Marauder's equipped like yours. They also have the mini spare with traction control.:)

Yo, Good point.
So now you know when you fight the dealer for the badge, you need the whole cover so you can bolt it on.
Again my friend had the dealer pull the cover from an '03 on the lot & handed it to my friend.
He removed his badgeless GRAY cover & replaced it w/ the BLACK badged cover.
The dealer did not want his cover??
Again, he said the dealer stated the badge was unavailable to order???

If it were me, I'd be more upset about the lack of powdercoat on the cam covers, than about that little badge. Heck, with the air induction system in place, you can't even SEE any part of it from the front, and only about 40 percent of it from the driver's side.
Getting this part as a service replacement item should not be a problem. It is the exact same nameplate that was used on the Continental since around 1998, same as the one used on the Mark VIII until it was dropped, and of course, on the 2003 Marauder. I bought replacement nameplates for my 1993 Cobra (similar stamped light-gauge aluminum- easily damaged) in 1995, and that was a MUCH rarer engine than what we're talking about here.
In fact, I believe that badge was also used on the 5.4L 4V engine in the Navigator, from 1999-2003.

Thanks for the welcome John:

Mine is a 300B it is on the sticker. Can't beleive I never noticed it before. However it has the Map pockets in the front seats. So there goes that theory and Still has the seperate clock and the traction control switch as you mentioned.
