First, the Timing cover has one bolt that does not match up (Drivers Side 3rd one down on inside side of TC) saw something on another web site that states that the cast block and the alum. has a bolt that doesnt line up????
If this is true, option #2 is it looks like the cobra long block timing cover has pulleys in different locations, plus it requires a "notch" in the frame, assuming all might work out?
( I am trying to insert pics, i cant figure out how to do it)
next concern, the oil filter/ cooler looks a lot different and alot bigger.... looking around, not seeing it anywhere out here on anybody elses posts.
(again, cant figure out pics...)
any thoughts.....

You can leave the bolt out. You can't use the oil cooler. You just put the marauder oil filter adapter on.

Yeah, leave the bolt out. I put some extra silicon around the hole before attaching the cover just to be safe. A wise man once told me, "oil doesn't flow uphill unless under pressure."

But the oil Cooler looked cool!!!!
Next curious question, my MM block is a 6 bolt main (4 on top 2 on side), the cast Cobra is only a 4 (2 on top, 2 on side)?
also, knock sensors? leave them out? turn off with programmer?

I was able able to bolt my single knock sensor to a boss in the valley on my newer iron cobra block. You can have a tuner disable the knock sensors or attach them to the back of the heads. Main caps are different, but, it's not an issue. Oh yeah, I left that timing cover bolt out too! Here's the mains on mine before I put her in:

I am guessing there is just the one, on the old motor was on side of the valley, the new cast block its in the middle. So, if it fits, rehook?

Iron and aluminum blocks do have one bolt that doesn't match up. You can drill out the hole on the timing cover so it matches the block.

thanks all for your help on this. can anyone tell me what else to expect to run into when I do this?
other items I noticed was the oil pick up tube is too tall, had order MM tube.
The oil cooler has to be removed.
My Mechanic is a Master Mercedes Mechanic (he keeps looking for that damn Mercedes emblem on the MM too ;) )

Were you able to get an 8 bolt flexplate? That's about it. It should go pretty smooth actually.

Marauder oil pan, but think you already had that listed in your other thread. PCV is setup different. Balancer is different too. But you can use the cobra one if you are not using a trilogy lower pulley.

8 bolt Flex plate shipped same day from Jegs, with the 8 bolts that i needed.
Saw other threads about stall needed cause stock wont hook up?
Marauder oil pan, marauder oil pick up tube (cobra pan and pick up tube too deep)
new gaskets for timing cover.
PCV?
Balancer, which one should I use? not putting SC on yet, so will it matter which one I go with?
Still curious on the knock Sensors, put in or leave out? and what will i have to do if left out?

Just do what Racerx said about the knock sensors, either bolt them to the back of the head or disable them. There's bolt holes back there that match up to the sensors. I had my tuner lower the range of timing pulled by them to about 1-2deg and bolted them to the back of the head.

when finished, only had two pieces that we couldn't remember where it came from....
Will post pictures of parts tomorrow...
car has sit for 2 1/2 yrs. getting reminded of that when it did start, I.E. no headlights and driver and passenger windows won't roll down. So, still more work before road ready....
but vrooooooommmm is soooon...... ;)
I will try to posts a summary if everyone wants of what we did, what we ran into, maybe some more pics...
thanks again for all that provided input and guidence, I probably would still be looking at a motor in a box going "WTF do I do first!"

My kids basketball games has taken my time to complete. I snuck over and got my windwos working (seems odd, Mercedes mechanic says, "Just beat on the bottom of the door, those D@mn motors are just froze, it'll free up" and he was right....)
So, if you own a Mercedes and your having issues, Just beat on it first!!!!! (Lesson Learned LOL!!!)
still struggling with headlight issue, gonna find wiring schematics and start poking around. so far, all fuses good, voltage at fuse panel under drivers door, and under hood panel. no voltage at lights or seems not at headlight switch (have one wire, but no others. thinking some headlight relay or module bad....
any thoughts?

Need something in the picture for size reference, a nickle or dime. But I believe the clip on the left is from the passenger side and separates two hoses and keeps them from rubbing. I can't remember exactly, but I think one is a tranny cooling line and the other an A/C line? My best guess.
The thing on the right is clearly an extra part you don't need anymore!
LOL!
