I bent a rim yesterday just from a pothole here in Chicago. The tire would deflate half way, but not all the way. I thought it was the rim because the steering wheel wobbled at a slow rate of speed and I heard it scraping noise. Turns out I actually did bend the rim and the tire was okay. A quick trip down Western Ave and $10 for the fix. Good as new.

Watch out for those potholes people. Those of you on winter steelies. I wasn't even doing anything immature, just cruising in the right lane and POW!

Also before putting them on for winter use, check on the inside of the rim where the wheel face meets the drum seam. I had two of them with slow leaks because of rust inside the wheel face/drum seam.

I don't worry too much about pothole cause my tires are 70 aspect but I still try to avoid them.

If your steelies are P71 parts made by Ford between October '01 and December '04, they might be the recall wheels.

I read some thing about the correct way of dealing with potholes is to slow down, but release the brake right before you hit them. This prevents braking forces from increasing the load on the front suspension.

The guy I bought them from said they were for an 08 Mustang, but didn't say how old they were. Even then I bought them used. Thanks for the tip. Hey can you post the pic of you singing Hot For Teacher? I love that photo, random I know, but whatever. I laugh everytime, don't know why. It's just a cool photo.

Right lane is the worst place to be in! That's where you'll see the majority damage and HUGE pot holes (Bus & truck lane ususlly take a huge beating with the weight) just my opinion.

I've been taking advantage of having the steelies on! Twice now I have "hopped" the curb to get around arrogant idiots that refuse to creep forward to allow me to make a right turn....

Hopped? I will mount and dismount the curb. lol My winter setup sits the car up a little more than an inch, lots more ground clearance and 70 aspect tires help too.
