Okay, so I'm sick of the wear of the OEM fronts. I run 255/55 rears and was wondering if i could get a different size than oem in the fronts. I have traction control and don't wanna mess it up. Anyone have any suggestions on tires that don't wear as fast as the OEM's? Also would like suggestion on rears that don't wear as fast. I'm runnin Goodyear eagles right now, and it's about time for a new set. This set only lasted about 10k so far.

First get a good front end alignment, look at a set of Nitto tires. How hard are you driving your Marauder? You should be able to get at least 20K on the fronts if you are driving not like you stole it. Good Luck.

First, search for Carfixers alignment specs and get the front end setup properly.
What size you run on the front has no bearing on the traction control.
The rear tires have to be at least 3% bigger than the fronts or traction control will ***** at you.
I've been running Hankooks on the rear and am getting fantastic wear out of them. Will be going to Hankooks in the front soon.

Okay, so I'm sick of the wear of the OEM fronts.
I have never had a problem with wear on the OEM fronts .... I easily average 38K on the fronts with the 235/50/18 BFGs even with aggressive cornering. Now the rears are a completely different story 'cause I only get half the mileage on them. Best on the rear was 21K. Worst was 15K on GoodYears.
You must have an alignment issue on yours especially if you are experiencing wear on the inside edges. Check on the site for "Carfixer's Alignment Specs" and go get 'er done. Otherwise, it won't matter what size you put on or what brand..... your fronts will suck.

I took carfixers specs to my alignment shop cause the insides wore on last set of front. He told me he couldn't get it exact but got it as close as possible and gave me a print out. forgot how far off it was. But now my outsides wear. I have a problem with my fronts runnin low on air though. I fill them up to 40psi about once a month cause they drop down to 30 after a month. I'm thinking that might be the reason for the outside wear. Or the guy that did my alignment was tryin to fix the inside wear and ended up just causing outside wear.

just found the printout... Dont know if anyone can help me out and let me know if this looks right or if it would cause outside wear?? The car has a rebuilt title so maybe that is why he couldnt match Carfixers specs?? Maybe im just always gonna have bad wear cause of the damage to the chassis. Also just discovered that one of my sway bar linkages is shot. Doubt that would have anything to do with it.. But maybe im wrong?

Tire pressure may be part of your problem. I think that 40 psi on the fronts is too much. Mine are set at 35 psi front and 38 psi rear. If you are dropping that much in pressure over 1 month, it sounds like you may have a leak somewhere. Have it checked out. Could be leaking around the rim if it got bent or the bead may be torn. Check the stems too. If all else fails, try a nitrogen fill and it may limit the range of your pressure loss.

I'd take it to a different shop for the alignment. If this car has frame or suspension damage, you may be looking at the best you can get. Carfixer's specs are listed below. Your alignment is off with positive camber on the left. Toe should be zero.
Courtesy of Carfixer
The inside edge wear of the front tires is caused by 2 things: negative camber and negative toe (toe out). Caster is not a tire wearing angle. The outside edge wear can be caused by excessive toe in and aggressive cornering.
Factory camber spec is -.5 degrees or- .75 degrees
Factory toe spec is -.15 degrees or- .20 degrees
(BTW, this info came from their website which is updated periodically and may differ from previously published material, such as cd's and paper manuals)
That means your alignment could have -1.25 degrees of camber and toe out of -.35 degrees and still be in the "green". This will wipe out the inside edges in <20K miles IMO.
All of the MM's I've aligned (about 10) had at least -1.0 degrees of camber and always toe out of -.10 degrees or more from the factory. That's why almost all MM's you see have excessive inside edge tire wear.
For best tire wear, here is what I use on all MM alignments:
Camber: 0 to -.3 degrees.*
Toe: Zero degrees.
Caster: 5-6.5 degrees positive with .3 degree lead on the right side.
*Camber can affect cornering feel. The more negative camber you have, the better it will handle corners. Most drivers will never feel the difference, especially on the street.

Since it's a rebuilt title, I bet the frame or something else isn't true and you'll never get the proper alignment specs......

I'm thinking next time around I'm going to try a set of these. They have the rear in 255/55, and fronts in 235/55. Has anyone used these yet?

How do I know if I have traction control on my MM?

There's a button on the dashboard to the left of the steering column. If you have to ask, I suspect that you do not have it.

With apologies for asking in multiple threads, but this one seems a bit more active--Pirelli P-Zero Nero. Yay? Nay? No opinion?
