I'm going to be attacking my wacky wiper issue tomorrow. The snow has started to melt enough for me to walk all the way around my car. The temperature should be in the low 50's and I have the day off. My wipers started going nuts a couple of days before Christmas and the ground has been continually covered in over a foot of snow since then. I can finaly work on my car now. I already have a new wiper motor ready to go. Does anyone have any advice for me to help this go smoothly? Any ways to provent this from happening again in the future?

Also, my headlights do some crazy things when the wipers are on. I already redid all 4 of my LCM relays so I'm hoping this fixes that. Does anyone know where the delay that makes the headlights turn on in the daytime when the wipers are on are located? I'm tired of my car turning into a strobe machine when I turn on the wipers in the day time. Usually when this happens I just turn on my headlights from the switch so there just on rather than blinking like my car is having a seizure.

The small grate by the PATS is where the light sensor is, I cover mine with a small stuffed bird. Make sure when you have the wiper motor out that you clean the trash out of the well, and open up the weep hole, I covered the electrical connection with dielectric grease, and put hardware cloth inside the cowl, to prevent more trash from getting in there.

Doing this on a regular basis will keep the wacky wiper syndrome to a minimum.
Fixing the wiper problem will most likely fix the headlight issue as well.

I cover mine with a small stuffed bird. I thought we were the only ones who did that... :D We have a chickadee in Phoebe and a blackbird in The Blackbird (pretty clever, huh?).

It is recommended that you get the pigtail wiring that plugs into the wiper motor as well and replaced it. Did u get the pigtail wiring?

We have a pair of bright red Cardinals, one on each side, goes with the Blk, & Red theme.

No, I did not. I guess I'll be playing with WD-40 and some dielectric grease.

DISASTER!!!!!!:mad2::censor::m ad2:
I have my car a part and I just noticed that tascaparts.com sent me the wrong wiper motor when I saw the pins in the harness were different. I just did a search on the part # on the box and found out that they sent me the one for a 93-95 tarus. I just loged on to my account and looked up my order history and it says:
Collision Catalog - 2003 - Mercury - Marauder
Windshield, Wiper and washer components, Wiper motor, Wiper motor 1 Price $91.34 Core $35.00 TOTAL Price$126.34

Did you ever test the old wiper motor, after mine dried out, and I did the PM on it, it has worked just fine, for 3 years since. As to the Pigtail, if it shows no signs of over heating, melted plug, Etc. I wouldn't replace it, if there are signs of this, I would replace the pigtail, and then try the old motor again.

I just unclipped the wiper control module off the wiper motor and tried calling my local ford dealer with the part number that was printed right on the circuit board. After being put on hold, I was told that I can't order that part seperatly.

There is no sign of corrosion on the pigtail connector. I'm going to try drying out the control module now. Wish me luck. I'm just a little annoyed because I bought a new motor so I wouldn't have to clean water and mud out of electrical components. Once my car is back together, I'll be giving Tasca Ford a call. :mad2:

Ok, I just got off the phone with Tasca Ford. They claim that the part I received, 6W7Z-17508-AB, is the correct part for an 03 Marauder. I told them that it had a completely different harness connector, different wiper shaft, the mounting holes were in the wrong places, and that was not the part number on the bright orange sticker on the bottom of my wiper motor. They told me they would be willing to exchange it, but they wouldn't know what wiper motor to ship me. So I told them I'll just return it for a refund and they were ok with that.
Also, I dried out the control module and sprayed WD-40. It seems to be working now however, now my headlights don't automatically turn on at all with the wiper motor but I won't know for sure till I start driving it because the problem was intermittent to begin with. Now I'll never know for sure if it's caused by the wipers or the LCM.

The car had a feature where the headlights would come on with the wipers. If its dried out and you cleaned out the well, you should be good. Some people drill holes in the bottom of the trap to drain out water and some debris. When I had wacky wipers with headlight flicker, the dealer replaced the wiper motor and its been fine since.
