What a surprise... 751 hp/617 tq, pump gas, street tune, 17 lb boost, 16 degrees timing. I'm done, the fuel pumps and injectors are maxed out, running 60 lb injectors and twin GT supercar pumps @ 92% duty cycle. Trying to upload dyno sheet...

Brian, the car sounded great today and it was great to see you as always.
You need to come with us to Steel to run the car down the track.
Now that you know the way, come stay at my house on the Saturday night before we go on a Sunday.

It made 680 with the previous setup. Same timing, same boost. I changed the CAI from 4" flex tubing to 4-1/2" mandrel bent tubing. That puppy can breathe now, an additional 70 hp worth of air!

Looks like you might have had more but ran out of RPM's. :congrats:
We were running to 6800 and it was still climbing so I had Jeff change the limiter to 7k to see if it peaked out. It didn't and was still climbing at 7k but it was starting to plateau, so I suppose it's got another 20 or so if I just raise the rev limiter to 7200-7500. It's not really useful up there since I'm shifting below 6500. Plus I might run out of fuel, that would be bad news...

Marty, I was glad to see you, it was another nice surprise since you had planned to be gone for another commitment.
I'll definitely have to test it at Steele, it's way too fast to run at Commerce now. We need a trailer so I can get it home after breaking axles...
I may have to make a trip down there for a range day too!
This could be the ssecond fastest MM out there.....
Jeff said it can run in the 9's on blower only! I've been thinking about figuring out a bolt-in roll bar setup, which would be good to 10 flat, but 9's will require a full cage, I think it's supposed to be certified too. A bunch more money.
Wow.
SSHS11 new numbers?
Maybe make a single pass and get kicked off the track! If I get it dialed in at Steele, then maybe I can make a good full pass without a DQ on practice runs.

The tuning story...
I changed the CAI last year and immediately started getting CEL warnings due to fuel trims. Since I didn't have access to a dyno at the time and most reputable tuners were a long way away (and I was unemployed so I couldn't spend the money for gas or tuning), I just datalogged and street tuned using the Pro Racer's Package to adjust the MAF transfer function until I got the fuel trims dialed in at lower rpm's (below about 3k).
Then the driving strategy came into play, NEVER go WOT, do everything possible to stay in closed loop operation. I also raised the TP setpoint where it goes open loop. Been driving it like that for several months, and 1/2 throttle was just fine. The first dyno pull hit 400 hp and 500 tq at 3000 rpm, so even with part throttle I was blowing the tires away at will.
So it went on the dyno and after the first pull Jeff was amazed I hadn't blown it up. My strategy had worked perfectly, it went to 18:1 AFR at about 3200 rpm at WOT, but at 3200 in closed loop (part throttle) the PCM always kept it at 14.7:1. Keep in mind, it still sees boost at part throttle, but not nearly as much as at WOT, so the 14.7:1 was safe enough.
I believe the third pull hit about 700 and Jeff guessed it had another 40-50 left to go. Right on the money!

I was discussing some performance upgrades with Jeff, he said "don't change a thing". I suspect the rear end will need work soon though since it's the remaining weak link. :burnout:

Very nice... Im glad to see after some of the problems you were having that you got it all pulled together..
are you still using the custom pistons with the ceramic coating on the tops & the teflon skirts? I have been using them too now & think they really make a difference in how far you can power the engine without pre-det

Yes, the pistons are the same. I think the ceramic coating has a similar effect to that of the oil squirters Ford is putting on the new engines, keeping the pistons cool.

I agree... I'm building a 2.3L motor now for a Merkur XR4TI. (if you know what that car is...) but I plan to ceramic coat & have oil squirters installed on that motor because it will be running high boost from a turbo...

Saw them race in Argentina back when they were the hot ticket...
I have "sort of" squirters, rods are drilled and a groove machined around the wrist pins so oil comes out the top of the rods after going around the wrist pins. Not sure how much oil hits the bottom of the pistons, but it's gotta add some lube to the cylinder walls if nothing else.
