I know this isnt specifically for a marauder (but marauder parts).... but Today I picked up a HVLP gun, Gallon of reducer, quart of clear, adhesive promoter, tinner for the gun, hardener, tack rags, paint itself (quart), gray sandable primer, and some activator for the clear and primer.

This is going to turn out interesting I think.... but I hope i will get it right after the sixth or seventh time. I am expecting complete failure, but we will see what happens....

I am going to be one of the booth in the garage guys. Planning on making a ghettofied downraft style system in my garage with a sealed plastic enclosure.

I need to get some prep supplies still and some fans, furnace filters, drop cloths, duct tape, sandpaper, wax remover, and other.

I am expecting complete failure and this is just a personal challenge for me at this point. If anything half decent comes out, ill be a happy camper.

I decided if i do this im going to do this as proper as possible. Any suggestions guys other than that? I hate to say this, but the guy at the paint supply store really helped me out ALOT and told me some of the stuff I dont need (such as using adhesion promoter vs flex additive) and seemed to NOT want to make too much money off of me.

Any other suggestions?

you got it. I cant afford a full on paintbooth... and I hear that the way Im doing it will produce the best results for what im doing.

I figure dust is the devil so I try to prevent that..... prep is obviously key as well as common sense.

Lets see.

ive painted a few planes, hoods, fenders and other assorted crap. what type of prep solvent are you using? you want to really wet the rag when you clean the surface then take another dry rag and wipe it off right. if you just wipe it with the wet rag and dont wipe it off you could end up with crap in the paint and poor adhesion. you are going to want to do that 2-3 times or until your drying rag becomes clean. remember to keep folding the rag to a clean surface. make sure once its clean that you dont touch it and if you do touch it clean that spot again.

get your self a trash can or a box or something and put some masking paper on it, you can use that to get the gun set up.

make sure you have some sort of water separator for your compressor

the better you protect it against dust the better off you will be. if you wet the floor before you spray it will help to keep the dust down that the broom just cant sweep up.
