May want to call one of our vendors - DR or Lidio?
I believe Precision Industries or something like that?
3,000 stall is quite popular.
BTW,... nice mods.

I would suggest a PI because it has two bolt patterns just in case the in the future you decide to go bigger it will fit the 8bolt flexplate.
Also if your going centrifugal get the 3500 stall tripple disc. Call Dennis and he will hook you up.

Is the stall speed calculated when the tc engages and starts to move the vehicle or when it is fully engaged? Ex: If a vehicle starts to move at 1500 rpm's but the tc fully engages at 2100, what are the listed specs on the tc? This may sound like a stupid question, but I have never been told this. Never had an automatic till now.

I have a PI 9.5" 3500 stall. What kinda mileage do you get with that? I have an edge racing 9.5" 3500 stall. I get 16.5ish with mixed city and highway. All city, I get about 15, and highway, (because of the lockup) I get JUST under 21 at 78 MPH.
Please be truthful, I hate when some dumba$$ is too prideful and will try to tell you they get 17 city with a 3700 stall.

I get about 19-20 mpg with 4.10 gears with a good mix of city/hwy. All highway I get about 23-24mpg doing anywhere from 65-80mph.

If you don't have 4.10s you will want them with the 3500 stall. Also on average the 3500 triple disk stall can rob about 10-12hp but it will increase the tq.

So tell us David who to stay away from, we all are waiting to know we do not have tons and tons of vendors here, we have ten and only two of them sell converters there listed here. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=68537
If you have a problem with a Vendor that is what the vendor review is for, it is in poor taste and unprofessional to make statements like you did about a aparent vendor here.
I sell PI and there are at least 50 or more members running these, I also know Chris at Circle D and I have respect for Darin and every other vendor we have here. Don't you ever get tired of bad mouthing or making your cheap accusations. I was just beginning to think you may be maturing and changing.

I bought my PI 3500 stall from DR and actually I got a below market deal on it cause he just wanted it sold. 70-80k miles later still happy that I made the purchase. Only issue I had was with the tuning of it with 3.55 gears but that's in the past now.

Thanks but I wasn't advertising the company, wonderful as they are. I was merely giving someone an explanation to their question in words better than I could have said. Rather than copy/pasting their work and claiming it as my own I used a link to their site.
;)
Mr. Reinhart, while I have the greatest respect for you and your company and I do appreciate your candor, I don't appreciate when a vendor recommends a part with as much intricacy/complexity as a torque converter, or has as much to do with the way a car drives/behaves as a torque converter as a blanket statement. I of course understand that most of these cars are relatively similar in all circumstances and that makes you able to recommend 2 vanilla converters and not be too far off of optimal in your recommendations, but the way that discussion of actual specifications are automatically dismissed is disheartening or should I say, disreinhartening:D
I'm sure you've been through the 'what is my best torque converter' question more times than all the people have fingers and toes, but its just a pet-peve of mine to see vendors talk like that. "call me any time and I will gladly answer all of your questions" was a fine place to leave it
I know I didnt need to say anything, but again, its a pet-peve of mine. I appolagize for taking away from the thread. I digress.

Only members with an overwhelming amount of sanity can answer that question, and IMHO none of us qualify.
has the saying "If you don't have anything good to say about someone, then don't say anything at all" ever come to mind?

Like any one that deals with the public, you are never going to have a 100% satisfaction it is a known fact. David has had issues with me and he posted that in the vendor review form and that is what it is for, but he is not content with this. I will try with in reason to resolve any thing, and if you are unhappy with any vendor that is what the vendor review form is for, not laying and waiting to sneak in demeaning or slanderous remarks or PM prospective customers, or asking your budies to chime in on a gang bang.
I have strived to improve my customer service and my delivery time, I am one of the largest vendors on this site and every year I call all my parts supplier to donate to our events, just like I am for Louisville and I constantly look for more ways to improve this car as well as the CV, what Ed said holds true not only about vendors but also members cars I have seen a few people here bash some one for there choice of wheels or the color of the car, that is just plain wrong, it is there car and they like what they have done for it, no one has the right to make fun of any ones choice of modifications to there car. Logan never put up with it, I try my best to and over look some things, but the moron statement is way off base.
I have NEVER made a statement like this about any one on this site. Now lets stop this right here and get back on track, this is what gets good threads locked, there is a good amount of information here. Just commode flush the off topic stuff and lets stop it here.

Well, to disagree.... I have bought from Dennis and had good luck, I called him a couple of times, he answered my questions and such. I placed a couple of orders with him, received them complete and in a timely manner. Had I had bad luck, I would just take it up with him, I understand some peoples frustration's, but there is a time and a place for everything. Using any thread you can find to get on your soapbox is really uncalled for.
As far as people piling on..... yep, the idiots do that in the F.S. threads too, "lets all jump on the your price is too high band wagon", it's all good till it happens to them.
Anyhow, let's just keep the tread going with it good information pertaining to the header, and with that, I myself have a CircleD tripledisc convertor, 3500 stall.

Thank you for the support let me tell you a story that just took place yesterday, I bought a used PI converter several weeks back, does not matter from whom, it was supposed to be slightly used, I had it shipped directly from the seller to PI for inspection, the converter was burnt up and had internal hub damage the cost of repair 350.00 I was not going to pay that, with what I purchased it for, I could buy a new one for that, Jack at PI repaired the converter any way, this says a lot about the company and the people that run it, that is why I buy from them and will continue to.
