I have an 03 MM born July 22, 2002.

On the rear of driver's door above the latch is a piece of rubber that is glued to a metal clip. This rubber/metal clip fills a vertical opening in the door; the 'filler' (for lack of a better term) is just over an inch high by about 1/2 inch wide.

Here is what is interesting. On the passenger side in exactly the same position is the same vertical opening, but, the 'filler' is a piece of tape!

Does anyone else's car have this 'feature'? Or, do you have a proper filler piece made of rubber glued over metal? I went to the dealer and they have no part number that we could find for the 'filler' piece.

I would like to know if yours is the same as mine and, if you have the filler piece, do you know the part number so I can get one for my car.

This is one of those strnage ones! Thanks!

This clip you speak of holds the door lock in place. Since there is no door lock on the pass. door, they cover the slit with tape.

At one time...two weeks into ownership, I went to the dealership and looked through every microfische they had. But to no avail...the part did not exist. Therefore I took, yeah took, one off a 2003 gran marquis pass. door, and stuck it in my pass. door. To my surprise, it wouldn't stay in. Well DUH! Since there is no lock, it has nothing to clip to. So I glued it in. It fell out one day when grandma was getting in the car, she didn't notice it, slammed the door....it was hanging out, and well, it took $300 repair to nick/dent and paint.

My advice...leave it alone:P
