What parts are required to do the J-mod and what are the part numbers for the required parts?
Also on the fence about the springs, whether to leave them in, change to Mustang ones or something. After my 3500 stall went in my tires have only chirped once on the 1-2 shift. Shifts went very soft and of course I know it's do to the TC.
Does anyone have a 3500 stall and the Jmod done? Did you remove the springs, replace them or leave them be and just had the separator plate drilled?
Thanks
3500 stall, J-mod with no springs and a blower it don't chirp it smokes the tires. When I was NA no converter 1st I had no springs and for me it was was too much anything over 1/2 throttle would chirp or spin. So I put the mustang springs in it was great civil on part throttle chirp on wot. With the high stall converter my shifts were a little soft so I took the mustang springs back out and again perfection

Chris, call this guy Alan from this site. http://www.dirtydogperformance.com/
Tell him you know Damon from the SCCOA and me. He knows a ton about these trannys from his Supercoupe experience and offers the kit that he made himself that Im running in my car for the last 4yrs with no problems. It comes with the valve body plates, filter and easy instructions.

I'm not doing the Jmod myself.
SmokdMercRauder is doing it while he has the valvebody out replacing the shift selector seal/gasket and some other trans work.

You can have the kit by the weekend and have him throw it in while its apart.

I forwarded the site along with SmokdMercRauder and see if he'd rather just do that instead of spending time drilling and crap. Might also get their lube mod kit since my tail house has been leaking.

This kit was done in less then a hour when I had it installed. Its much better then altering the valvebody.

So you just did the partial Jmod with the plate and didn't touch the springs? Also I've been reading about some people replace the oem MM springs with Mustang ones?

In the instructions it tells you how to get a stronger shift by changing one spring and leaving one out. Its been a long time since I saw the instructions. The kit I believe comes with a upgraded spring. The guy Alan answers the phone and will set the kit up to how you want it to act. He'll either throw in a spring or a accumulator to get it to do what you want.

Blackbeauty and I did a jmod on my mm last weekend. I have 3500stall, blower and all. Now I have smooth necksnapping shifts if that makes any sense.Anymways part numbers are listed on the jmod instruction sheet along with a required tools list on crownvic.net net. Don't have an account with them? No need to trade sides, just google jmod and a link will pop up for a thread on their site. click print install. took a couple hours.I left the springs out. hope this helps.
Hey birdman my springs weren't touched!
And you know how my car shifts! :D

Your car also had 450rwhp around that time and stock converter. Aftermarket converters soften up the shifts a lot.

Alright so I am making a parts list of things to get. I want to freshen up my valvebody some when I have the Jmod done.
Sonnax parts:
OD Servo Regulator
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1453
Elevated Pressure Regulator Spring & Valve kit
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1456
Bypass Clutch Control Sleeve & Plunger Valve kit
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1460
Pressure Regulator Boost Valve & Sleeve kit
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1461
1-2 Accumulator Piston, Molded Rubber
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1463
2-3 Accumulator Piston, Molded Rubber
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1471
Solenoid, 98-up, Shift, Dual Pack
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1464
Solenoid, 98-Up, TCC Lockup
http://www.sonnax.com/product-lines/transmission/parts/1465
I need the gaskets/plates and the springs but don't know what color springs/part numbers I need. I want to leave the springs in but want a firmer/faster shift under normal driving and bark the tires on WOT.
Any other suggestions are welcome. Some stuff isn't needed but since I'll have it out might as well replace the stuff with the mileage I have on mine.

+1 on the "when in Rome" stuff....ordered a pressure control solenoid, pressure regulator valve, and a 4 seal piston for the 2-3 as well
as some other stuff is coming w/ the valve body kit I ordered....will make lying on the floor more useful I suppose! :)
Best,
Jonathan
