Ok, so I had this problem even with my old motor, but I am not beginning to see it with my new motor and I'm not sure what the cause is.
Problem 1: After about a 20min drive this morning, I park in front of a friends house but leave the engine on so I don't freeze to death while waiting to car pool with him (premium gas gets expensive :D) after sitting in park for about 10min the engine begins to creep up in rpms out of nowhere to about 1200...it was noticeably worse on my old engine where it would creep up to probably about 2500rpms while sitting in park....I only have maybe 4k on the new motor.
Problem 2: This problem was not present on my old motor....when in park if you rev the engine to like 3000 rpms it will stall out :mad2:i'm not sure if this is intermittent, but it has happened twice...this isn't something i do all of the time but i was trying to hear where a rattle in my exhaust was coming from...
Has anyone experienced any of these problems? suggestions?

Try cleaning your IAC. Its the silver cylinder on the side of the throttle body. That controls the idle and it may be full of carbon.

What he said on IAC. As far as 3k stall. Does the engine literally die @ 3k or when you let off the gas?

it dies when you let off the gas, like when the RPMS come back down...they go all the way down to zero and you're stalled out... i will try what you guys said when i get home, i heard there is a proper procedure to cleaning the IAC though, is this true?

Yeah, you unbolt/screw it and clean it.

Just remove it and spray the hell out of it with carb cleaner. Let air dry and reinstall.

LMAO! Well now that I re-read my post, it was a good set up I guess. Anyway, cleaning THE CAR part is easy, lol. Heck, clean the maf and the throttle body too while you are at it, only takes about an hour or two to do it all and have it all back together.

Mine has done this a few times over the last months while I have had it basically sitting, due to repairs, etc.. I expect once spring rolls around and I clean everything out it will pass.
Let us know what you find, though as I am interested.

I used Q-Tips to get the buildup of crap in there. If it is really dirty, your TB is going to be just as bad, so you may as well clean that too.

Maybe there was a chevy creeping and your car was trying to growl at it. Mine does the same thing but my foot is the culprit. Jokes aside please keep us posted of this unusual problem. Im curious at what it is.

What are your rpms in idle warmed up and rpms in Drive with the brake on? Definitely sounds like IAC. Stock TB?
