Gents,

Since delivery back in September the passenger side door is challenging to close. Excessive force must be used to close it. It appears to me that the door is not hung correctly. It appears to be a little low.

I took it back to the service manager twice and was told that if they adjust the door it will cause wind noise and that the entire line of CV's, GM's and MM doors are hard to close in order to have an "air tight" fit.

Currently there is no wind noise, however my bride has to "SLAM" the door shut. Even closing the door from the outside you have to "SLAM" it while all three other doors close by themself. I am not buying the fact that Ford purposely made the doors hard to close.

You thoughts~

Piglet how about cracking your power windows a hair?It may make it eaiser to close?Maybe the car is to airtight?Could be to much power window torque make it harder to close?Don't know if it will help just thought I throw my two-cents in.

If there is a difference in the force need to close the passenger door from that needed to close any other, than it would seem that there may be a problem. Also, resistance from air pressure and resistance from poor fit should "feel" different. SergntMac's suggestion to check for signs of uneven wear seems like good advice. I have noticed no unusual resistance to closing any of the doors in mine.

SergntMac,
The side airbags are built into the front seats.
Piglet...don't let the dealer "smoke" you on that air crap. It should fit & be airtight.

I agree with Mike, that's bull****. Take it to another dealer and have them fix it.

Doors are a pain in the rear end to align properly, which is probably why he's giving you the bull, he'd rather do a profitable job than have a guy spending 3 times the book rate in hours getting the job done right.

Your dealer is handing you a line of crap. My Marauder had issues with the right side door sticking upon opening and I was told not to mess with it either. I took the car home and adjusted the striker myself and totally eliminated the problem, so, get a second opinion.

If your door is low, it will be obvious as the none of the body lines will 'line up'

I suspect it's the striker and you can adjust that with the post on the B pillar. If you do it yourself be sure to first mark it's original position with masking tape. The post adjusts up and down, and in and out. Taking a guess, yours probably needs to be adjusted outward slightly.

other adjustments at the hinge usually require removing the front fender. Hopefully that isn't where the problem is.
