If yours aren't leaking then they don't need to be replaced.

Replace them with the stock Ford ones. I had the Monroes, they rode a little bit stiffer and azz end liked to bounce around more when I would hit a bump while turning. Plus one of my Monroe shocks started leaking in a year or so.

I just replaced my rear shocks last week. The right one was leaking. I got mine done at my local ford dealer, so yes they can get them. Make sure you tell them you want Marauder shocks, not crown vic or grand marquis. There is a difference.

Most part sites do not show Motorcraft rear shocks for 2003 models anymore such as RockAuto, they just show 2004.

Well, ordered mine today (have a leaking right side shock). Was equally "shocked" at $180.00 tab for two!!! Dealer did say distribution center shows only 14 left so I thought I'd post in case others want them.

I just ordered the Naake setup for the beater marauder. QA1 single adjustable so I can set them ride like a Cadillac. Also, they can be rebuild rather than thrown away.

If you getting the just the rears go for it but I wouldn't buy the front setup again.
I am really starting to hate the fronts due to the spring bottoming out and sagging more on one side. Changing out the crappy QA1 spring this weekend for the factory units with my copy of Fordnut's lower spring perch.
My perfect setup would be the Naake SA or DA rears and KYB fronts w/Eibachs if I could find a set.

Are you sure the adjustment nuts didn't just move down the shock? I would adjust up the coil on the side that seems to sit low to see if that cures the problem. I've had one of the first sets of NAAKE coils on ProRauder and have never had a problem with a sag or bottoming out. It takes an awful lot to make a coil sag.

I thought the part # was ASH-1152. Are you positive that these are the same as what came on the car or are they giving you the police package shocks?

The naake springs will bottom out under certain conditions there not the best set up. I would order taller springs with more travel & 25lbs spring rate less.

This is exactly what I did and how I've been riding since about a week after install. One adjustment nut is about 2-2.5" higher than the other side.
I already fabbed up the mounts using Fordnuts thread, cost me about $80 total in parts and machining work. I am just waiting for a couple other pieces I need to arrive to put the stock springs on w/the QA1's.

QA1 does not make them taller in the upper and lower coil diameters and style that comes with the kit. Lower mounts for the stock spring were easy and cheap. Upper mounts would be more difficult and expensive to make. i also don't want to have to order custom springs if I can use what I have already.
Here is the reply I got when I emailed QA1 about taller spring with the spring end diameter and style as what is supplied with the Naake kit:
Phil,
The GBF style of spring is designed for the GM front ends. We only offer it in a 10" length due to the geometry of the GM front clips. We do have higher spring rates that would help the bottoming out issue you are experiencing however. We offer both a 500 and a 550 pound spring. The part numbers for these springs are 10GBF500 & 10GBF550. These will not compress as far as the 450 springs you have now, which would result in a higher stance (at the same spring seat height you currently have).
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
David Kass

Wow - been there done that!
This is why I switched to the KYB's.
Anybody wants the QA-1's that I removed can have them for a nominal fee. They all leak and the mounting points are worn out on all of them - they need a major overhaul to be useable.

Got the Monroe Severe Service shocks and struts installed this weekend and I'm very pleased so far, firm and tight, but IMO, not harsh, plus 3 year limited warranty on them.
Would recommend them for consideration for anyone in the market for replacements.

I believe correct, got the number from this thread. The difference is Ford vs. MotorCraft numbers.

Pleased with performance from the Monroes, firm but comfortable ride. The new shocks and struts, along with the Addco rear sway bar and boxed control arms have really improved the handling. Enjoyed going through the mountain twisties on the way up and back to/from Louisville last week; 70+ and didn't even break a sweat.

Finally installed my rear shocks. Though the factory number and imprinted with FORD logo, I noticed the replacements did not have the rubberized, accordion-like cover on the lower shock as originals did? Just irritating as I went through the trouble to replace with originals and they are not identical...oh well
