Did you folks ever ask yourselves why we may not walk like the rest of the ducks?

I mean why don't we just have 4cyl high efficiency wheels like most of the rest of the country.

Well at least I think I know why in my case.

I believe I was 11yrs old (+or-)and this was 1968. My family and I were on a multi day visit with relatives in Connecticut. We needed to go to some family occasion (a wedding?) that I no longer remember. My older cousin Steve got the job of driving us to the event.

He was in the car business and he grabbed a 66 or maybe 67 Coronet wagon off the lot for the job.

There were 6 adults and 2 kids. I was in the jump seat. I guess the sound deadening wasn't the best in those cars (thankfully)

He pulled out onto what I believe was I95 and we were late. He got on that baby.

It probably only a 318 2bbl, but what a sound. A V8 really working. I know he was flying due to my parents gentle comments about maybe slowing down. He didn't as we had to make time. The limit was 70 anyway so what was maybe another 20 or so when you were late.

I loved that sound. A V8 working under load at high speed. It came through the floor clear as a bell (or maybe a siren song) I still remember that ride 25years later... just for the sound.

I think that's why I love the sound of a V8 and maybe why I also have an 8 passenger wagon.

I think you're right.....

My earliest memories are of grandpa's big a$$ Vista Cruiser, and my dad's 440 Dodge 'vertable.

In my impressionable years...after the divorce, I remember my mother dating my now stepfather...he drove a white and red Roadrunner. That's what did it for me man. V8'S for ever!!!

What is "music to my ears"? 1987-1993 stock 5.0 mustang exhaust with cats. Good luck finding that around. I later found out that the stock intake and throttle body also gave it the "throatyness". However, I still want to hear a pre- production MM with the baffle- less tips. Maybe it will change my mind.

I was raised around old V8s. My dad had a 641/2 Mustang and a 63 Monterey with the Breezeway window. I wish I had either of those right now. We had a Country Squire Wagon with a 429 and a 67 T-Bird with a 390 and suicide doors. My first car, a LTD had a 400 and my next car a Chrysler Imperial had a 440. Man, I miss all of those cars.
