Recently during changing plugs noticed oil inside the sparkplug well. Removed the plugs but they looked normal and didn't have oil on them from the cylinder side...WHERE IS THIS OIL COMING FROM???

Either from the spark plug hole gasket(s) or the coil cover gasket.

You could also have a crack or hole in the cam cover.

I found oil in ALL the sparkplug wells...no weird noises, a little burnt oil smell but other than that she seems just fine.

There is a seal for each spark plug chamber to keep oil out and over time they start to allow oil inside of the hole. Only way to replace them is to pull the cam cover.

Probably the boot under the spark plug hole. I have extras if you feel like pulling the cover off and replacing.

I had a little oil in the plug well on #8 time before last when I changed the plugs (every 15K miles) but last time it was dry....weird!!

It won't hurt a thing...just a bit messy!!:shake:

Motor oil is not an electrical conductor but perhaps metallic contaminants could cause it to conduct a little??

Sounds like your Lincoln LS might have had other problems??:help:

hhmmm... thats interesting.. Lots Of TSB's for the LS's oil leaking into the plug wells. causing misfire. I guess i assumed it was shorted? :depress: dunno.. Oil was all the way to the top of the coil. replaced the gaskets ( o- rings ) and all coils fixed everything. :) If any of the above mentioned drivability issues are reported on an affected vehicle, dealers are to identify any engine cylinder that is misfiring and perform an ignition coil stress test on the affected cylinders. If the coil fails the stress test, dealers are to replace the ignition coil and associated spark plug. If any coil boot is contaminated with engine oil, dealers are to contact the Special Service Support Center for prior approval to replace the contaminated ignition coil boot, the associated spark plug and install a new valve cover gasket set. This service will be performed on affected vehicles at no charge to the vehicle owner.... well after a little research i believe they are saying the COP boots break down with the oil and can cause the leak thru/misfire?
