At just shy of 54K, my Marauder is ready for its first brake job. My dealer, who has treated me well in the past, has quoted me $445.00 for both axles including OEM pads and machining the rotors. Fair price? Anyone know a better place in Las Vegas with whom I can trust my baby?

I'd be surprised after 54k if the rotors can be machined and still meet tolerances. $445 just for pads is high IMHO.

I agree^^^ unless they are doing a flush and all new parts...that is a little high....a good price would be about 100 per set if they are just turning the rotors and putting on new pads......

54K is a little early too.....my lasted 100K with a few runs down the 1320'.

Wow  you must do a lot of highway driving. Brakes don't last a long time here in the hills.

Yeah...prolly....have to use the highway to get anywhere in this city....lol....and I have been to 1 Marauderville in St. Louis, been to K.C. Mo. once, OKC a few times and the thrid coast several times, Big D a bunch, San Angelo, FT. Hood, Austin, Houston....just to name a few.

$445? Holy crap.
Find a friend who knows how to do brakes if you don't. Remove rotors, have them turned at a parts store ($20/pc max, I've found). Install new pads. Save hundreds.

That price sounds right. OEM pads are around $90CAD and shops usually charge 1.5/hr for labour. considering all shop rates are different, mine is 95hr. 95x3hrs labour (front and rear axle) =$285.00 + 180 for F&R pads gets you $465.00 + taxes

My knees and back won't allow me to work on a car at ground level and I don't have access to a lift, so I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the labor.

private shops usually have a much lower labour rate. I would try that option if you can't do them yourself

I'm leery of the "Quickie-Brake" shops as to quality of materials (as well as quality of labor). The OEM pads have been outstanding, in my opinion, lasting 54K miles, good stopping, no brake dust, etc. My dealer has always given me outstanding service and I don't worry about it being done right. I don't know any independent shops in the Las Vegas area well enough to trust them. If anyone has a place they can recommend I'd be glad to hear it. Or if anyone has a lift I can use, I'll buy the pads and do it myself.;)

$445 for pads and RESURFACING all 4 rotors is a great price for a dealer.

I'm at 125K and original brake pads still going strong....

The price is about right for OEM pads and labor. When it comes to brakes, you get what you pay for. Price shop other dealers tho, some offer maintenance brake work at a reduced labor rate. Just keep in mind you may not have the "best" mechanics working on your ride with reduced rates, especially at aftermarket shops.

WOW. I really need to adjust my rates... NOW.

Hmmmm I could never afford a dealer, parts under $100.00, but then I don't make those high wages.

Hmmm, I had the dealership do my rear brakes, which were completely toast, and it cost me less than $300 IIRC. That was for new pads/rotors/e brake parts & labor. I guess out here in the woods it is just plain cheaper. Shop rate is $65/hr and they don't charge me book, but actual time. Probably why I have been giving them my business for years now.
