Any help would be appreciated. Started today. Headlights are fine.
LCM? Headlight switch/rheostat dimmer?

How does the car know the doors are closed? No switch that I can find. Is the sensor in the latch or something?

I had to drive for 2 hours after dark with the interior lights on. I pulled the fuse for a while, but it shuts down the climate control as well. Nice thinking in wiring to the same fuse.

See if the knob below the headlight switch is on all the way. If not, then it can be one of the door ajar switches.

The rheostat is a dial. Push on it?

Where are the door ajar switches?

Thanks.

The dial beneath the headlight switch. If you turn it all the way to the left, it dims the instrument lights. As you turn it to the right, it increases their brightness. If you turn it ALL the way to the right, it turns on all of the interior lights and they stay on.

No, what you'll want to do it check to see if it's all the way on, and then turn it about a 1/4 turn the opposite direction to shut off the interior lights.

He said, see if it's on, meaning all the way to the right. If so, just nudge it to the left slightly. If that's not the problem. move on to the next possible culprit.

You should feel the detent when the interior / instrument light control is moved all the way to the right. If you do feel that detent, just move the control to the left until you feel the detent. The interior lights should be off. See page 40 of your owners manual. There is a timer that will turn off the interior lights after 10 minutes and will turn off the headlights after 30 minutes. See page 81 of your owners manual. There is a timer function built into the LCM that will turn the lights off even if you don't.

I understand completely how the dial works.......
Q:
Where are the sensors in the doors located?
Thanks for your help.

Actually they do shut off after it sits for 20 minutes, so the LCM is ok. It has to be a door sensor.

Courtesy light switches are usually located on the jamb in front of the door, hinge side. They are like plungers. Out equals on, in equals off.

Not on any newer cars they aren't including the Marauder.

The "door adjar" switches are attached to the door locks. Have to take off the door panel to see or check them.

That's what I suspected. I think it's the rear passenger door. It would not open for a second yesterday. Had to pull on it a little.

Is there a wire or something attached to it?

Yes there are wires attached to the switch.

Good deal!

Can't remember the last time I saw a door "jamb" switch.

Blast some WD-40 into the door latches, sometimes that frees up a sticky switch, before you yank the door panels.

I tried it earlier. No go. I'm taking it apart tomorrow. I hope the door I suspect is it. I HATE taking off door panels.

I went to change out the switch today, but you can't get to it without removing the latch. I got the screws holding the latch out, but can't get it out because of the rod that attaches to it. Not sure what to do. I'm thinking I have to drill out the rivets holding the door handle mechanism that the rod attaches to from the latch.

Does anyone know the procedure?

do you have a door ajar light on? if the light isn't on than its not an ajar switch.

There should be a clip that holds the rod(s) on to the latch.

There should be a clip that holds the rod(s) on to the latch.

It's a Z bend so it has to be rotated.

There's no idiot light on the dash for an open door. I'm trying to remember. Is there a chime when you are driving and a door is open?

Better yet. Those clips used to break. $0.35 part, an hour of labor to replace it.

There is a chime for engine off, key in ignition, and driver door ajar. At the very least you should be able to rule the driver door out as the culprit.

I went and sprayed off the car and the engine compartment. Light went off. Any theories?
