View Full Version : Is everyone sick of their Marauders?!?!

Please correct me if I am wrong, but did we have five members sell their cars in a week time? Why is everyone getting rid of their cars? The only guy I know still active as ever with Marauders isn't even allowed to post here!!! (no pun intended believe it or not)
The Marauder can do it all, there is no replacement. We can run 12s, hold our friends and family, go to work, haul the groceries, be safe and maintain for dirt cheap costs!! All in the same day! There were a few days I would put 2K worth of food in my car for work, wash it, go racing at the track, bring my friends and look for more racing well into the night after the track was closed. All in the same day. What other car are you going to do that with? A Ram SRT10 quad? Good luck finding cheap parts for that when you break a tensioner 600 miles from home.
God I feel old. I have now seen members come and go. Not too many stick around, I guess it like that with any car club over the years. I know we have active members that have been around from the early days 02-04 and there have been plenty other members that have joined sense then that I am glad to have in my life. I have just noticed a lot more going then ever. First everyones crashing their cars beyond repair now everyone is ditching them. :shake:
I will have mine the rest of my life. Please tell me I am not the only one.

I just got collector license plates for mine. It isn't going anywhere.
Mine ain't goin' anywhere! :cowboy:
I've read most of the posts from members who have sold or selling their Marauders. The reasons are not uniform nor should this be considered unusual.
There are more than 4500 members on this site of which only a few regularly post at any one time, I suspect many of the "missing" members have sold their Marauders.
Our site founder has acquired and sold his Marauders several times. We see Marauders on ebay, craiglist, dealerships for sale all the time. As many as six at once.
New members join all the time but their Marauders have been owned by several people.
What still surprises me is that some of the cars have so few miles and were garaged during these years.
I share Dom's theology, a Marauder should be driven and often.
Regards,
Bradley G

I bought mine with the intention of keeping it untile the wheels fall off!And the fact that I just spent the money on a new motor for mine says it all.I could have sold it as is and lost money. But I have way to much fun with the car and the people that also have them.So Lets get it on! Now I know people have to sell for various reasons, and that is unfortunant.I am not judging anyone for that!We can still be friends... :)

Calm down Henny Penny!
Some car enthusiasts get bored with a car after some years of ownership and buy something different and more interesting to them.
That's OK.
Others prefer to keep their cars for a lonnnng time.
I would be one of the latter.

After being pretty much a garage queen for the last 2 years, I recently drove the Marauder daily for about 3 weeks and I'm convinced it "ain't going no where."

Mine is a garage queen as well but that doesnt mean I dont enjoy it. I usually drive mine on the weekend but Im not planning on ever using it as a daily driver. When I took it to get inspected last week the guy was kinda shocked at the 19k miles on a seven year old car but thats just fine with me. Ive driven to three Maraudervilles (and am still pondering this years event) and that always adds a few thousand miles. As for selling it, Im not planning on it but basically everything I own is for sale.

Not sick of my car....and just as important to me, not sick of the car club. To the contrary, I enjoy my car even more than when I ordered it brand new(or should I say Mr. Man ordered it for me). I had no idea what I was getting except that it was going to have a lot more horsepower than my Crown Vic. I immediately discovered a huge positive difference in my daily commute.....and even bone stock I loved it! Really never met any other Marauder owners (in fact rarely ever saw any Marauders at all) in my area. A few people would see it and say "Wow! That's one of those really fast supercharged Mercuries!" I couldn't enlighten them 'cause I still had no idea what I had. :o Finally, I joined MM.net (kicking and screaming) at the insistence of Mr. Man. What the heck am I doing on a forum full of car guys? I didn't know a CAI from a control arm!
Sloooowly, I began to learn something about my car. And wanted to learn more....and more. Eventually I went to a CAM meet in Hanover, PA (kicking and screaming) at the insistence of Mr. Man. We'll be kidnapped and sold into slavery, I just know it. That meet was the beginning of my real love affair with my Marauder....and my appreciation of the other men and women who loved them too.
Meeting the faces behind the screen and learning first hand about the car was a real turning point. We took the next step and went to a weekend meet in Gettysburg and met even more of the members whom we enjoy to this day. Another milestone occurred when we went to the regional meet in Louisville. There were Marauders everywhere....and the chance to hang with some of the MM.net rock stars. (actually we already knew lot's of these rock stars already). My faith in the opinions of these guys, gave me the courage to get my car tuned by our former member, Zack. To date his tune is the best thing that has happened to my car. My driving enjoyment went through the roof.
Sick of my Marauder???? Absolutely not!! Mr. Man and I have gone on to embrace all that the car and the club has to offer. In fact, I retired my 2004 SB as my daily driver in an effort to ensure it will be around to take to MM.net meets for many years to come. Mr. Man (my original inspiration for buying a Marauder) recently bought one for himself. I owe this all to him. We are both endlessly grateful to Mary and all of the MM.net owners, whose dedication and passion
keep the lights on here. And grateful to the huge number of amazing Marauder owners/enthusiasts who generously share their experiences and expertise and help us stay in touch with why we love this car. And most of all, to all those members we have meet over the years who welcomed us into the Collective, and even more..... who have become personal friends. Thank you all for turning a great car into a great hobby....that I get to share with the other love of my life.

i had been toying with the idea of selling the car for over a year, even tried once but wasn't quite ready. come to the last few months the car had been parked in the garage since october, needless to say i lost interest in driving it. it was still tons of fun to drive with all the power but i duno, just lost interest. i also wanted to get rid of the car payment. its quite nice now worrying about a payment every month and saving 550 every month is nice too.
i think i enjoyed building the car more then actually driving it, if it had a 5 speed maybe it would have been different but didnt really want to butcher it that bad. i also sold it to a fellow mm lover so that was a good feeling knowing it wont end up with 20s and sliding into a telephone pole. im surprised i really dont miss it too much.
as you can see Dom, im still here because there are many people here i consider friends. although there are a very select few here i despise, i still hang around to help people out or just BS.
will i ever own another? probably not but who knows. i hope to atleast work on a few more

Well you are almost correct, 5 members out of hunderds sell their marauder and you think the world is going to hell in a basket? As far as "only one guy active" well you know me and I am active and not banned. So re-think your reason behind the post. Maybe when your on the looong plane ride to Germany:)

I have car A.D.D. and I constantly change vehicles. I've had the Marauder for 4 years this month. Will I ever sell it, yes. The only reason I would sell is for family emergency or to go back to my roots of Mustangs. This car is awesome, but once you drive a Mustang for so long, no matter how fast or cool something is its not a Mustang.

Let's see, I bought mine for 19K with 28000 miles on it in 2009, immediately bought 3K in stereo equipment for it, I put Addco's K&N CAI and then upgraded the stereo again (Thanks Pops!).
Oh I forgot to mention the Aluminator I had put in after I painted the long end of the strip at SSSH9 with the oil and chunks of metal from the original motor. That went well north of 10K not counting travel.
I have easily spent enough to have bought the new car I was thinking of before stumbling into this car.
It now has 45000 miles on it, I have 7 trophies I scored with it and all you folks here that I get to laugh with on an almost daily basis.
I am financially married to this car for quite a few years now. And I got no complaints.
Would I buy the same car again? You betcha!
I'll be around for a while Dom. Bring on SSHS11!

For me, it all depends on the vehicle and my attachment to it. My first vehicle, an 81 Isuzu Diesel 4x4, I had for 15 years untill some SOB stole it.
The best vehicle I ever had, a 91 Aerostar, sits way out back. It will likely never see the roads again, But I could NEVER sell it to be crushed! Although I would GIVE it to someone that would truly appreciate it.
I had a 90 CRX that I put thousands of hours 9-thousand dollars into. It is STILL the nicest CRX I have ever seen. But this car never really "did" anything for me, and I have few fond memories regarding it. 3 months ago I traded it for a nice Vortech supercharger kit for my Lincoln, and have no regrets.
My 99 Crown Vic "The PO-RAUDER", I had to explain to the guy at the alignment shop last week, why I take such good care of my car. "Because it is the most comfortable car I have ever driven and I have no intentions to ever get rid of it". That is unless I ran across a super sweet deal on a black or silver Marauder. But even then???
One thing I will ALWAYS have, even if somthing happens to mine, a Mark VII Lincoln.
Just my .02, For what it's worth.

Even though I sold mine a couple of weeks ago, I have a pretty strong desire to either hunt down my car again later or find one with REALLY low miles or already completely built out (with low miles) down the road.
My new car is fun (REAL fun), but for me that Marauder was the closest I could get to owning an honest-to-God classic car without having the actual worries of owning one.
tl;dr: I feel a Marauder will be in my future again, finances willing.

It still came down to a practical decision. If I was in a much better financial position, yeah it wouldn't have left me, but that's how life is sometimes. Honestly what bugs me most though is thinking of all the mods I did do that I probably should have avoided, and thinking about how much money I could have saved if I hadn't have done them. :P But oh well, live and learn. If I get the chance to do it all over again (with mine or another), I'll do it right. ;)

The only time I get rid of a car is when it cannot be salvaged economically.
When I get the urge to replace one of my cars, I just buy another car and keep the old one.
Is that why I have so many now?
