Car was running very rough. CEL came on. Went and had the codes ran.

Codes were : misfire 1st 1000rpms. Misfire #6 piston. bad o2 sensor 1st bank. And something else regarding the 02 sensor 1st bank.

I replaced both o2 sensors on the first bank. Looked at the #6 spark plug and it was a little more "burnt up" looking then the others. Thought it was a fuel injector, maybe dead or stuck open. Replaced it. Put everything back together, started it. Same odd noise from exhaust. Tested #6 coil pack to find out it was dead.... go figure.

Anyways. Replaced coil pack, started it up. No CEL. drove around maybe 20 minutes, and decided to get into the throttle some. Gave it 3/4 throttle and CEL came back. Ran the code again (Bought a code reader this time) and it said o2 sensor heater malfunction #1 o2 sensor 1st bank...ONE OF THE ONES I REPLACED!!! Its brand new. I don't see how it could be malfunctioning already.

Do you think I burnt out the o2 sensor starting it after replacing the fuel injector thinking I had fixed the problem? Any ideas?

Same odd noise from exhaust.

Describe the odd noise. Popping or a thumping sound? If the noise is still present after changing out the plug, coil and injector, I'm afraid it may be something like a burnt valve or piston issue.

The front and rear o2 sensors are different, you didn't get them reversed did you?

Also, there have been some people who installed aftermarket o2 sensors and they didn't work right, they went with OEM sensors from FoMoCo and fixed the problem.

Make sure you have the right sensors in the right spots.

Aftermarket / generic O2 sensors don't work too well.

FoMoCo FTW!!!!!!!!! :banana2:

check the o2 sensor harness for damage also

Do you think I burnt out the o2 sensor starting it after replacing the fuel injector thinking I had fixed the problem?Doubtful. You said the code was for the heater, not the actual sensor.

Unhook the connector and check for 12V between the 2 white wires.

Don't waste your time on aftermarket 02 sensors, go to rockauto.com and buy the motorcraft ones $36 each.
