I have been checking the mileage with every tank and Christmas Eve I drove to Charlotte and filled up in Rock Hill, SC!!

211 miles and 8.8 gallons...I even did the click...click...click to fill it to the "brim"!!l:D Figures just a tad shy of 24 MPG!!! ;)

This car amazes me every time I drive it....Thanks Ford & Lincoln/Mercury!!:)

Wow impressive mileage!

Be careful with over filling the tank. For safety reasons the tank is "full" after the first click that is caused by back flowing. ( Clicks caused by the nozzel being at an angle resulting in a fuel ricochet when the tank is only a fraction full are ok)

An over full tank has a much higher % of leaking in the event of a crash.

Well.....That's interesting!!:)

I know that in every CV I've had I could "click" a couple more gallons in.....I'll stop that!!;)

I can see how some folks can get wildly varying MPG's if they stop on first "click"?? At that point it could be + or - 2 or 3 gallons depending on how level it is and the fuel delivery rate!!

I usually fill mine slowly allowing entrained air and fumes to escape.

Jack - If you fill the tank too slowly it is possible that the automatic fuel shut off (back pressure) will not function. Gas will continue to pump everywhere. I have seen this happen and it can be dangerous.

that happened to me once when I had my Grand Marquis. For whatever reason I was determined to fill the tank to the absolute top to see how close I could come to the actual 18gal capacity(I musta been bored that day:rolleyes: )..........

...so after filling the tank at the fastest pump speed. When it clicked off, I then proceeded to fill at the slowest pump speed possible to squeeze in the most gas. I was watching the pump and was surprised at how close i was getting to 18 gallons....meanwhile I noticed a nice looking lady in the car next to me starring at me which felt kinda good...........then I looked down at the pump nozzle and realized why she was looking at me...........the gas was overflowing out of my car, and by then there was a big puddle of gas on the ground!!!!!!!

Needless to say, because I was so embarrassed, that walk to go inside the place in order to pay for my gas was one of the longest walks I've ever taken!!!:D

....so yes, I can vouch for the statement about the nozzle NOT clicking off when you pump the gas real slow.

I gaurantee, you'll only do that once.....especially if there's a crowd of people watching you when you do it the first time.;)

Appareently your not REALLY enjoying this car as I thought-- I don't really care about gas MPG--you can't have any fun with this car worrying about such KNOW matters--- i.e., the more you play the more you pay----gosh!-- This isn't a GM for goodness sakes!--Even with play time --it gets great mileage---although with my new fun car it does seem to like the fuel stations more than before--but --hey-- remember--I bought it to have fun--so if you bought it to drive as a CV--then --yeah--if you treat it like normal CV driver--you will get good mileage----I just love the push pedal and go feeling- there is no more ' gas to engine thru to trans to rear to wheels==it just plain goes!! --GONE--SEE-YA!! Sorry
back to the MPG--Great MPG you got -!! Tom

Yeah man, I agree as the fact that you got 24mpg means you wern't having fun with this car!

Actually, the gas mileage of the Marauder is actually pretty good. I don't know what Ford was afraid of as far as the Marauder's gas mileage is concerned, since it's getting better gas mileage than my old 00 Crown Vic ever got. I'm getting 14-15 in the city, and about 22 on the highway. I find that to be very good, since my old 99 V8 Taurus SHO by comparison only got 20-21mpg on the highway and it weighed less, and only had a 3.4 litre v8.

I"m getting 14-15 mpg in town. Just can't help it !!!

13 MPG around town, and 15 MPG highway. But that's mostly due to my rear end gear ratio choice.

Wellllllll.......

All you "Performance Nuts".....I do poke it around but when on the interstate for four hours at 75-80 MPH I don't run it up to 100+ like "woaface" and back down to 50 MPH and do it again!!

But.....I do seem to make more coffee stops than ever before just so I can "BLAST" back into traffic.......The car is amazing!!!

My '00 CV got about 21 MPG under the same conditions.....I wonder how much "leaner" Ford can go before engines just self-destruct from heat.....Check the Denso plug thread.....GONE in 15K miles??!! I think the factory plugs in my '00 CV lasted 100K miles and could have gone longer??

Hey Guys

Ford really doesn’t run their cars any leaner now then they always did the last couple of decades with the modern EFI’s they have. Once your at idle and part throttle they all pretty much have to run and at closed loop which achieves an Air/Fuel ratio of 14.7:1. This is optimal for catalyst Life/Efficiency and fuel economy. They only go richer at WOT when the computer switches to “Open-Loop” and even then to my surprise the MM are still at a clean 13:1. While most other older EFI fords would go much richer then that at WOT.

The Denzos that failed in that short period of time referred to in this thread is another problem of some sort like; wrong heat range, really bad fuel, tuning error or an over aggressive tune that ran that motor on the edge of spark knock a lot and just killed them. Other wise today’s motors that hang at 14.7:1 A/F ratios is not a long term problem.

My MM for now has a 4.10 and my own chip that gets pretty aggressive at WOT and left most all else alone for part throttle and idle stuff in the tune. It seems to get about 14-16 in town with a few full throttles in between and about 21-23 on the high way.

The trilogy #1 car got 25mpg on the way to Florida this past March when it had the blower and nothing else done to it. For the TX trip it had a 4.10s, more boost and a slightly bigger CAT-Back exhaust with Flow-Master mufflers and it still got 21mpg on the high way. I thought that was pretty dam good.

Thanks
