View Full Version : Noise issues... I hate it.

I have a plastic type noise (two pieces of plastic rubbing together noise) coming from the bottom left corner of the passenger side air bag cover on the dash. If I push on it, i can duplicate the noise i hear when i'm driving but i'm unsure if this is truly the issue. has anyone else dealt with this type noise from that area?

I too have heard it. I usually only hear it in the winter time though when it's cold and as I drive over bumps. I do not know what it is.

I just fixed this on my car. It was the banjo nuts that hold the airbag in. I lubed the metal parts with a teflon grease and that seems to have fixed it for now. See the image below I took it from the blend door thread in the resource room.

BTW to properly do this the airbag needs to come out.

I punch the dash about every 5 minutes....

After about 10 top of the dash fist slams without breaking anything I shouldnt' be an idiot and fix it. So, with this new MM I did it the moment I brought it home. No punching required.

Actually I've discovered my "squeaky dash" in both my MM's have been fixed by removing the radio, and the surround. The putting some double sided foam tape between the edges. This gets rid of it.

I used to fix alot of squeaks and rattles using foam tape or weather stripping. You'll get squeaks where ever there are two pieces that rub together. My MM has no squeaks or rattles.... as tight as the day I picked her up....

Just got back from a visit with my friend Russell Wright (frdwrnch). With his expertise in find noises, he pin pointed it, loosened the passenger side airbag bolts and re tightened and the noise is GONE!!! Thanks so much for the help. Now I sit back and wait for the next noise..lol
