Would not recomend it. Talk to your tuner, he should be able to give you a start up tune which will be good enough to get it there

^^^^ What he said. ^^^^^

Plus, even if you think you can take it easy for that 100 mile trip, I guarantee that you'll be overcome with the urge to nail it at least once; ask me how I know. ;)

So its not safe to drive at all but is it ok to at least start it up in the garage without a tune just to make sure everything is put together correctly? Let it idle for maybe 30 seconds.

You should have a tune before you do anything. Any good tuner can email you a tune so you can start it up and moderately drive around.

Too much hand holding. ^^^^

Yes it is safe to drive to get tuned. Just make sure you don't get into positive pressure and the factory tune will be just fine. More than 1-2 lbs. of pressure and you do run the risk of wrecking parts. Feel the urge? Ask if you can afford a new motor. Many, if not most, can't. Just be careful and save the towing bill for more tires.

Unless it is literally for a few seconds just to check for a start-up, Do Not start your car without a "simple tune". By "simple tune" i mean a tune sent to you by a tuner to make the car DRIVABLE and thats all. This tune WILL NOT be a performance tune so DO NOT BOOST. You can drive as far as you need to to get a proper dyno tune... just as long as you stay as low throttle as possible. I drove 4hrs to my tuner on a "simple tune". highway and all. It, took really long to get to 80pm/h, but everything was good.

If you think you can't keep your foot out of it, remove the blower belt...

It's so easy to get into boost it isn't funny, maybe 1/4-1/3 throttle and mine is seeing a couple pounds, defiantly not the thing to do on a stock tune...
