Wow, took off the winter tires and wheels and put the factory ones on yesterday and wow are they loud. The road noise is very noticeable, the BFG KDWS are very firm and loud. You don't realize what you have till you change it with something else!

I think I will be switching over to Nittos soon, a bit less firm and I'm sure quieter than OEM (road noise)

Anyone notice that the Nittos they had installed got a lot quieter than OEM tires?

Currently, I am running the BFG stockers, and will be having my Nitto 555's mounted within a week or so.

I'll let you know what I think about the Nittos in comparison to the stock BFG's

;)

Sweet - PM me Mike so I don't miss it. Want pics too if you can!

What size did you end up going with?

I found that the nittos atually were louder than the BFG's. Small price to pay for peace of mind on less than ideal road conditions.

Babbs you need louder exhaust then you won't hear the tires. :D Seriously though, the noise has not bothered me. I switched back to OEM from Nittos last fall before MV8. What I noticed was that the OEMs seem to handle better, but that the 4.10s can burn them up a little to easy. I believe you will like the Nittos for the track. Once my side yard is snow free/dries up then I can get to the small bricked spot I have to park my Marauder I'll get her out for the season. Right now its still winter here and I'm just 40 miles southeast of Babbage. :( Elevation makes a big difference. We had snow on Friday morning.

if your hearing tire noise i bet you have some tire wear. run your hand across the inside edge of the tire, i bet you'll feel its feathered.

Nitto 555's get VERY NOISY up front with wear so I went to Kumho Ecsta 255's up front and Nitto 555 295's out back.....GREAT combination and very QUIET for a pleasant change!!:bows::beer::D

Are your winter wheels on 16" rims? Perhaps a shorter sidewall accounts for much of the difference.

Yesterday I took my four winter tires & wheels off and installed the summer wheels & tires. While driving to a evening appt. I heard so much road noise I checked to see if a had a window open then stopped to see if a door was ajar they were all closed. The oem tires are just plane loud. Their new so I will just turn up the tunes until the outside temps rise.

Okey-Dokey,

Got the Nitto 555's mounted this past Saturday and drove about 23 miles to take the Marauder back, and found the Nitto's may be slightly noisier than the BFG stockers.

I say maybe due to it being fairly windy that day and possibly trying to listen too hard at highway speeds.

The ride seems better than the stockers as well.

I did not lean into any corners due to the tires being new and cold outside.

I did have an opportunity to run the MM up to about 85 - 90 and smooth as glass. (road-force balance)

Very responsive as well.

Still sounds good. You went with 265-50-18 right?
I wonder if I could spray some sound deadner material in the wheel wells if it would help.

I like the looks of those 555 and the size too. There aren't any good other tires in that size (really)
