A long time Ford guy here. Been a Marauder fan since they were introduced. At the time, I was driving a Mustang GT, and I should have traded it on a MM. Started looking for a good used one last year, but gave up looking after several months of not finding what I wanted. My wife wanted a car that was much newer than 2003-04, so I grabbed a off lease 2009 GMQ with 14,000 miles and have been modifying it since.

Started with dual exhaust conversion, then ADDCO bars, KYB CVPI shocks, Stillen Sport rotors, Hawk HPS pads, and Shelby GT500 take off wheels and tires. A K&N panel, CVPI zip tube, ADTR ported manifold, and HyperTech tuner completed the engine mods (till warranty expires). I have a Sparta rear suspension on order.

Looks good. Welcome to the site. Reinhart automotive (http://www.reinhartautomotive.com/) has some good mods for your GMQ - like a supercharger kit.. When is the warranty up? ;)

Hey Welcome to the Marauder Site!

Congratulations on the great looking "Panther" Grand Marquis. Those Shelby wheels really add to the attitude of the car! A nice set of 3.55 gears would be a great addition next (I have 2 sets if you are interested).

Where in AL are you located? I am 30 miles from the border near Newnan, GA. The Southern Club meets in Marietta, GA the 3rd Saturday of the month (yesterday) and it is at the Cracker Barrell restaurant there.

Best of luck with the new GM!

Dave :)

Lookin good Al :banana2: Feel free to join us in Marietta, GA for breakfast!(We went to another locale yesterday, but thats a very rare situation) 3rd Thursday of every Month.

Keep and eye on the Southern Marauders Section of the MM.net Forums for details. I'm sure all that you need is buried in there somewhere:D.

Huntsville here. Gears are the next mod. With the lack of torque at low rpm's with the 4.6, I need at least 3.73 gears. As little highway driving we do, maybe steeper gears. When I bought the car, I purchased a Matrix 3 axis accelerometer to chart modification progress. I use 0-60 times to measure, as there is a facility nearby that lends itself to that. Baseline was 9.2 sec. Yesterday I made 12 runs with different launch techniques and finally pulled a 6.67 run with the new wheels/tires. Sub 7 second times were my target, so I was rather pleased.

Nice Merc, but don't give up on the MARAUDER and you'll have a real blast modding that up!

You managed a 6.67 in the 1/8 mile without an S/C and nitrous on a 4.6L SOHC??? Tell us more about your GMQ. Got a timeslip to post up?

Ooops !!! Old thread alert. :o

IMHO you should have held out for a Marauder. When we got our first one it was to replace the wife's DD a Crown Vic.She wasn't thrilled because it wasn't as quiet and soft as the CV. Less than two weeks of thumbs up from drivers and comments in parking lots about how cool her car was she was hooked. She may never drive anything else. Love the Panther's but a Marauder is soooooo much more.
Opinion's are like belly buttons, everyones got one, that is mine.
Welcome from a fellow newbie.
