Many of you are not aware but Mercman took his Marauder into Pro guard located in Indianoplis Indiana years ago, they custom made a skid plate for the Marauder I have sold hundreds of these for the entire panther community, so for the next 30 days they are on sale to the site for 50.00 PS.

Its a piece of flat plastic that encloses the rear bumper from underneath. There was a video of a CV going 100mph and the rear bumper ballooning.

It helps support the back bumper most Police agencies use it, and it does help, I will post pictures. Many have it on there car and like others do not. Great deal for 50.00

Yes you may have to cut a notch it . I've seen it done before. It does help with airflow and keep debris out of there. If possible cut it so that your hitch helps support (is below) the Pro Guard.

If you want to support your bumper you need $10 worth of flat aluminum stock and angle. I used an adjustable jig on mine. Easy.

It doesn't catch air and vibrate?

No it doesn't.

It doesn't catch air and vibrate?

Actually, it smooths the air flow somewhat under the rear and keeps the lip of the valance from catching air. Got mine after Mike mentioned my rear valance ballooning and flapping because of the air catching the lip. That was 6 years ago enroute to Detroit for MV III.

Interesting. I wonder if mine does that.

Of course it catches air, just look at the pictures. For it to not catch air and act as a wind drag, the entire front edge would have to be sealed to the trunk bottom. All this does is keep the rear bumper from flapping as much at highway speeds. Does it vibrate? Yes, everything has a point of vibration when acted upon. Heck, even the drive shaft vibrates and it is a lot stiffer than this piece of plastic. Can you detect it? Probably not unless you mounted a backup camera under the car to actually see it in action.

Ya know, this would be a cool experiment if anyone has one of those cameras...

What it does is diminish the wind drag so that it does not fill up the back bumper up, any one with some common sense can look at your back bumper that is totally open, then and the Pro guard it does prevent the same amount of volume of air entering the rear bumper, this is not rocket science, and it has been around for years, and many people like a few do not, if you do not it is real simple do not buy it.

I see what you did there... LOL!

Anyone with common sense can see that the face of the Pro Guard is open, just like the bumper. Just because you moved the opening 3 feet forward does not mean the same amount of air is not being grabbed by the bumper. What this mod does is attach the lower edge of the rear bumper to a sheet of plastic and then anchors it to the trailing edge of the evap system under the trunk floor with two bolts so that the bumper is rigid at speed. That is all it does.

And for the record, I did buy one from you, saw how it worked and then sold it because it really wasn't worth it.

Now, if you want to call me names, so be it. Just think before you type.

Understand the point that you are trying to make John; but your description of the problem just doesn't match with what I see under my car with the ProGuard installed.

The leading edge of the guard is pretty flush with the underside of the trunk. Yes, it is open but the gap is closed to about 1/4 inch or less. It actually sits above the incoming airflow so it WON'T catch the same volume of air. Before installation, the unprotected lip of the rear bumper valance was exposed by 2.5 to 3 inches and caught alot of air.

The Proguard may not be the perfect airflow solution; but it certainly improves the stock situation by a heck of alot. :twocents:
