I've been looking for a contact for either the Casting Plant or Engine #1 here in Cleveland with no luck. I emailed Ford and got this response back:

Hello Adam,

We would like to assist you in your behalf. However, please be advised that as of this writing, we are unable to assist you in this regard due to our current resource limitation. As we regret that our response could be more favorable on your behalf, we sincerely hope that in one way or another, we could be of assistance to you in the near future.

Thank you for contacting Ford and have a nice day!

Sincerely,
Mayzel

Ford Motor Company  It sounds like one of those spam/scam emails that come from far off countries like Nigeria.

So...anyone able to help? Looking to get a small group into one or both plants for a tour this September.

for the third time...
I am...

Looking to get a small group into one or both plants for a tour this September.

I am looking for someone who works at the plant who might be able to put me in contact with someone that can say "YES, you can tour it" or "NO, you cannot". It's not like a group of people can just show up at a Ford assembly plant and say "let us in" - these things have to be set up in advance.

Sorry, but I lost all my contact numbers. Of the three buildings on the site only one is operational doing engine assembly, overflow on the 3.6l. They never did tours.

The Rouge plant in Dearborn does tours. Its only final assemly though (F-150). Usually the don't let the public into the areas where all the good stuff is going on. I used to work in the industry and have toured many sub-suppliers. That's where most of the cool frabrication work is going on (stamping, welding, machining, etc.).

The Rouge plant in Dearborn does tours. Yeah, several of us are doing that tour in June. We were looking to tour one of the Cleveland plants since we all live in Cleveland.

Awesome. Hope you enjoy. I went last summer and thought it was worth the price of admission.

I hate to say it, but I think the original answer was the polite version of "we don't do tours" email. Considering how disruptive it is to tour a plant when its not designed for it, its easy to see why they turned you down.
