View Full Version : Air conditioner Fan problems

Just lately My 2003/ When I turn on the Max air button, the car has been sitting in lot and the interior cabin temp high. The fan starts coming from the defroster position on the dash. instead of the regular air conditioning positions on the dash. This is a somewhat steady happening now. It seems by lowering the fan position and going, back and forth, to the Auto position the situation is temporly corrected. My thoughts are that maybe there is dirt or something restricting the doors?

Have any of you had this problem and can it be fixed with out removing the dash items to get in there to fix it. Any solution info would be appreciated.

Search EATC, I think your o-rings may have went in your unit.

Could be blend door, but the symtoms you describe sound more like EATC.

Sounds like EATC o-rings.

Here's the link to the DYI repair, but honestly, just pull the unit and send it to fastblackmerc and let him do his magic, or replace it with a refurbished unit from RoyLPita.

Thank you very much. Where can I get the o rings? Do I have to get them from a dealer? Truth is the car an I are in Guadalajara Mexico right now. Labor is easy to find. It s the o rings I am concerned about? There are several dealers here and lots of Marquis. Can you gice me a part number or size please?

O-ring part # and supplier are mentioned in the above link. I believe they're from McMaster-Carr...

+ another for EATC o-rings. The blend door only determines the temperature of the air, not which outlets it blows from.

O-ring is a standard -007 size. Be sure to use silicone only, not nitrile or Viton.

I want to thank everyone that helped me with the fan o ring problem.I was able to get it fixed here in Mexico. A shop had the o rings and they fixed the problem. The instructions and pictures were very helpful

Well I now know what's wrong with mine. Just touching the throttle sends my A/C from floor to defrost. That's just great.
