Go to the Vendor Forum and see how often the Vendor posts. You will see there are only a few Vendors who are interested in the Marauder.
Reason they only made ~11,000. There is not much money, most have already gotten all the mods they want. When a vehicle changes ownership the new owner may want to mod.
With used ones selling for under $10K you are at the bottom of the auto market and many "new owners" don't have any money for mods. What money they do have is spent on keeping it running.
I only post this because some are ignorant of what it takes to run a business and offer a product.
I have seen the books of 100's of businesses and the profit margins range from 3-15%.

There are thousands of "Panther" owners out there that can use most of the mods that are MM. If the vendors can't think outside the box, then down they go. Crownvic.net has 22,000 active members hungry for mods. I don't own a MM, but I have spent thousands on my GMQ.

Good point you have there

It's not thinking outside the box, it's that the box is a coffin. The Panther platform is dead.
Can you use the same S/C Kit, Headers, Tune, etc?
With all those Panthers how many S/C Kits have been produced? If I recall Allen was the only one and they are in the coffin.
Whats the average value of a Crown Vic on their web site, $5,000? If all these Crown Vic owners were spending money on mods there would be 1/2 dozen or more S/C kits for CV.
Point is it is a dead customer base that is shrinking in numbers and dollars.

i dont think this is a "dead" platform, you must remember we are in a severe depression, with many people having lost there jobs, homes, cars, and a lot more, many of us are blessed enuff to hold on to what we have, and continue moding, i would certainly be moving at a faster pace if the economy was better , for most bills, and feeding there family comes before a car.
thats why you see this slow pace for moding its not a priority

Not to defend someone. To defend business.
From Post #1 "I only post this because some are ignorant of what it takes to run a business and offer a product."
In the past three years we have seen a movement against business stoked by our Politicians with the theme being "GREED" and "EXCESSIVE" profits. Envy and Hate are an easy sell, it is real cheap because you never run out of it.
Most people have no idea many businesses have a 3% to 15% profit margin. Long gone are the days when you could write off "expenses" that were really income.
I have seen people protest over "GREEDY PROFITS" against an industry with a 4% profit margin and another industry with a 5.5% profit margin.
There are people on this board who complain about anybody charging anything for anything.
They are so ignorant they don't even realize the Marauder is a Dead Market.

Many cottage industry's revolve around "dead" platforms. There are a couple hundred thousand Panthers running around that have been produced in the last 5 years, in different guises. Hardly a market that is not worth considering. Business's survive on suppling parts for MGB's, TR6's, and even Fiero's and the Panther platform outnumbers all of them combined.

Billy, good points but with all due respect, I recall many complaints again a vendor. Those attacks were not based on profit margins. They were the result of financial abuse, credit card shannigans and poor or even non existant customer service. Whether caused by slim profit margins, disorganization or just lack of character I don't know. I do know that there is no excuse for member abuse and or coverups. There is no room for those activities in an "about the members organization," in my opinion. There are obviously other opinions here. I surely hope those dark days are finally gone for good. Dennis

I hope there are enough Panther enthusiasts. The Panther is not an MGB, TR6 or Fiero.
Let's be realistic we drive a Grand Ma Car!

I think you are just stirring the pot. And there is nothing in the pot to be stirred.
I think there are more CV, GM, and MM enthusiasts than you want to believe. And who cares. Let people cry about who is charging this for that and that for this. That's their problem. I've got better things to worry about like "oh god. I just went number two. But there is no TP in here". :)

I somewhat agree with the OP on this one.
Not sure what it is, but many Panther owners(maybe the younger ones) either don't have the money to spend on mods, or don't want to spend money on mods.
And using the recession/depression isn't realistic, because it has been like this way before that. Think of the group buys for certain things:
everyone says "let's have a group buy", but when it comes to actually ponying up the bucks, it's cricketsville......
Not so much on here, but since someone brought up CVN, I will say that I have witnessed it a million times over there over the years.
The Mustang guys think nothing of dumping 10K+ into their cars, whether to make a magic HP number, or run a certain elapsed time. Now I know people here have done this to their MMs, and I think that's awesome, but how many CVNers have 10K+ into their CV/MGMs?
Non-MM Panther owners are notoriously...um...."thrifty", I've definitely noticed it. Try to sell a nice part for a nice price, they try to whittle you down until it's not worth it. Good stuff costs good money, More people should remember this.

Well, sooner or later, the Mustang guys get old and tired and can't drive compact cars anymore. I have had 6 Mustangs, 3 - 4.6 GT's among them. And I did spend big bucks on them. I looked at the new Mustangs, but being disabled due to a worn out spine @59, and the ordeal of getting a Mom into your Mustang when she is 75, led me in another direction. I wanted something newer than an '04 car, and I cannot be the only worn out baby boomer transitioning from Mustangs to something that is easier to live with, but very similar. And, I was at MM.net researching and buying from your sponsors, before I decided to join the conversations as a member.

It's called Capitalism, free enterprise, freedom of expression and the American way. Of late, there are certain vendors that have to fight and reassert there bravado about things they produce both past and present. If you are to compete, you must compete in the area of ideas and innovation. I'm not saying that those said vendors haven't ever had it, or maybe lost their fight. But one thing is for sure, the type of client that is his or her prospective buyer has changed and evolved and will continue to do so with the age of the car. There will be three general types of buyers, high end low mileage collector types, mid range guys with a bit of jingle in there pocket, and everyone else. To stay in tune with the masses you must change or if you want to be an elite high end supplier then so be it.
