Zack.... you are not the father! ok let's get serious.
I finally got the Marauder back a few days ago. Boy did I luck out. The car looks great and they actually cleaned it... like really well. I picked it up from the driveway after hours, but I'll stop by soon to say what a great job they did. I wasn't billed at all. No credit card, not copy of drivers licence, nothing.
I wrote down the miles before and they drove it just one mile. Still had half a tank of gas and everything. They told me the part for the body was used, but I didn't care. They painted everything very well too. The only problem is it looks like the bumper has a little paint chip on it where it was hit. I will check that out more later, but it looks great from where it was... especially because the truck driver could have disappeared.
Here are the pics! :D
I guess I am one lucky dog.
I was back to blasting Rob Zombie and driving like a madman in no time.

Looks Great Dom! Just one thing that caught my eye that you may want to address. The gap between the trunk lid and the tail light looks pretty big. Maybe they could adjust the tail light over a bit to even it out. Glad it worked out in the end!

I like how they even blended the dirt in to match the rest of the car...looks like it was never hit!
j/k, brah...I have to admit I thought the whole thing was a bit dodgy at first, but I'm happy for you that it worked out.
Paul, it that really a gap or is it just the way the sun is casting a shadow?
Looks good Dom! Bet you're glad you have her back :burnout:

I'm really happy for you man.
I have to admit, I was watching this saga unfold and was 1 of those that thought you were gonna get hosed. I'm glad I was wrong.
I will caution you that I believe you got really lucky. Should something like that happen again, get the cops right away. The chances of you getting that lucky twice are real low. Be safe!

You can gently wash it, just not wax/polish it. ;)
Dragcity
03-29-2011, 06:42 AM
You can too polish it. You just have to be sure ot use special stuff that breathes, to allow the solvents to evaporate and cure properly. Most of us do not have access to that. 6 weeks in the sun, then go for it....

When I got mine back they said leave it alone for 2 months wich was fine with me because it was the begining of winter it was going away anyways

Paint really needs UV to cure properly. Get it clean, uncovered and out in the sun as much as you can.

boy put some tints on that car.
I want to, but all they allow in the city is 35%... on the drivers window. I might do 3% out back and 35% up front, but I think it will look silly.
Congrats, Dom.
Look forward to seeing the reborn Merc in Louisville.
Something came up and I can no longer make it, sorry Steve. :( I think you are one of the few, I know the rest will be happy that I'm not around.

In the state of Illinois you could only put 35% tint all around. If you put darker than 35% in the rear you can not have any type of tint in the front.
35% Front/35% Rear or 50% Front/30% Rear
UNDER 30% ON ANY REAR WINDOW MAKES IT ILLEGAL TO TINT IN FRONT (unless vehicle is classified "MPV" and has privacy glass - 50% Front)

WRONG!!! Just about two months ago the city of Chicago was writing tickets for the people in the Lincoln park area for tinted drivers & passenger windows. Fox 32 news covered the story, when they talked to P.H.Q. they were informed that it is legal in the state BUT Chicago will still enforce the NO TINT LAW. So it all depends on the beat officer. Its still is considered ILLEGAL to have driver and passenger window tinted period, at least in Chicago/Cook County limits!
City trumps state!

Screw that...register your bad boy in another state using someone elses address and tint that mofo. In ND they are really chilled as far as tickets go. Its like a $20 dollar fine for super dark tint if the LEO is a hardass looking to write you up but its a fine and not a fix-it ticket.

He should do that. He was thinking about it before and he has family there also. We haven't had a $20.00 fine here in chicago in YEARS. I THINK A TINT FINE IS $75.00.

Nope..in 2009 when they changed the State law for tint here in IL, Chicago used to have $25 fines, soon as they got wind of the law chancing in October of that year, they upped it to $250!!! RIDICULOUS especially since a red light violation is a mere $100. And they target parked cars mainly to ticket as well. It is a joke.
They keep up these stupid "city ordinances" like no tint at all on front windows, whether your car is registered here or not, and that's another reason to not want to live or even visit the city...its going to end up becoming another Detroit if they keep driving business out of here with their ridiculous taxes too...:shake:
Lets hope Rahm can fix it up somewhat..our only hope.

I got a ticket when my Lincoln was parked @ 2am, didn't think it was $20 then. Thats one reason (besides my wheels be stolen) I keep my Marauder garaged. My windows are DARK!

Chicago is still going to give you a ticket for tinted windows because alot of people don't know about the new tint law and since people keep on paying the tickets instead of contesting the ticket. That's why they keep on giving tickets
UPDATE: 11-24-9. We continue to hear of stories that folks are still getting tint tickets (including a few close friends). The word from Andrea at the Illinois Capitol Office is that as long as you have legal tint under the current law contained in HB 3325, you should contest the ticket.
Make sure you have a copy of the law: Public Act 096-0815, which can be found at ILGA.
The Illinois Capitol Office has had several calls from people in Cook County who are getting tickets for tints. People are still having issues with the fact that officers and judges do not know or do not want to acknowledge that P.A. 096-0815 is law effective 10/30/09. All you can do is maintaining your innocence by pleading "Not guilty" pursuant to IL Public Act 096-0815 (as long as your vehicle is equipped legally under P.A. 096-0815).
