The bulb on my volt battery guage just went out. I was wondering how I go about replacing this bulb or how to make it illuminate again. I never opened up the center console or worked on any electrical components on my marauder before. Also off topic but my heater really started acting up and it will intermittently not work and be cold (happened rarely for a while but now its very frequent).

Any input is appreciated on how to repair my gauge lights. thanks.

You have to pull the shifter all the way back and pull the bezel that holds the 2 gauges out. Its tough but it will come. Then you can just twist the bulb holder out and replace the bulb. Its a 194 bulb.

this would be a good time to replace with leds, brighter, and last longer!

As for your heating issue, sounds like the EATC needs o-rings replaced.

Two options:

Pull it and send it to fastblackmerc for repair.

I highly recommend the latter, as Jim does a great job for a reasonable price, and guarantees his work. Car will work without the EATC, so a few days without the unit is NBD.

I'm going to have to do this one of these days. I'm down to about 2 lights on the whole dash. Got to click the dome on to see how fast I'm going at night. :shake:

This evening on the way home my OEM volt meter backlight started flickering, the OEM "oil pressure" light was steady, so am I wrong to assume the bulb needs replacing? If so, both gauges use the same bulbs correct? I figure if I'm changing one, might as well change both since I'll have the bezel off.

Edit: One more question, any suggestions on what brand 194 bulb I should purchase?
Thanks in advance for any input!

I can green LED bulbs available if you need them. Your gauges will look like this (assuming you've replaced the OEM gauges):

Yes, they are dimmable.

PM me.

To answer your question, any 194 bulb will work but you will notice both gauges will have heat marks on the tops. This is from the heat generated by incandescent bulbs. You'll not get that with LEDs.

One more question, any suggestions on what brand 194 bulb I should purchase?FYI, the factory bulbs for the gauges are 168, not 194. They are considered interchangeable, but the 194 will be slightly dimmer (2CP vs. 3CP for the 168) although it will last a lot longer: 2500 hrs vs. 1500 for the 168.

I'm still running the OEM gauges, so for the time being I'll replace the bulbs w/ 194 bulbs. In the future, when I replace the OEM gauges, I'll definitely shoot you a PM about the green LED's, I love the way they look in your PIC, but cash is tight right now. :(

Thanks for your input fastblackmerc!

Correct.

1. Glad to hear.

2. Ditto.

3. I wasn't aware of that! I just looked on page 43 of the Owner's Manual and you are correct! :o I just ordered a set of 194 bulbs from amazon.com too! I suppose it's a good thing I do have a new set of 168 bulbs that I purchased when I changed by backup bulbs, so I guess I'll compare them in the pod vs. the 194's when they arrive.

Thanks for the info RF Overlord!
