View Full Version : Tune up
Hello everyone I have a 2003 marauder and wanted to know what parts do I need for a tune up besides plugs and wires. And how much should parts cost all together
Don't need wires. We have coil packs.

Like Doom stated no wires as marauders use a coil pack on each plug, if coil packs go bad they are around $100. each?
Off the top of my head you need to check or replace..
PCV valve
Air filter
Fuel filter
Other will chime in I am sure.
PS: How many miles on the car???

And what exactly do you want to do? Just electrical, or the whole nine yards? (e.g. fuel filter, other routine maintenace that can affect car peformance)
Service interval on the plugs is 100K miles.

I know 100K is what Ford and others state. I would NEVER push plugs that far, just my 2 cents.

100% in agreement, just saying that tune up intervals on our cars are substantially longer than on older vehicles, and if the OP is going to do a tune up based on perception of a time-based need, nay not be necessary.

Plugs are cheap. I replace mine every year.
OP: Depending on what has been done in the past..........
Before the tune up, run a can of Seafoam thru the engine. Clean the MAF. Clean the throttle body.
Spark plugs
PCV
Fuel filter
Air filter
Check battery terminals for corrosion and tightness
Check belt
Check the tensioner pulley
Check the idler pulley
Check hoses
Check coolant
Check brake fluid
Check P/S fluid
Check tranny fluid
Check rear end ( the Marauder's, not your significant others :-) )
Check wiper blades
If anything that you check isn't good, replace it.

I finally pulled the plugs on the SB after about 100K and they looked pretty good.
The car has 86k on it ... Ok coils all fluids are ok cause I gotten my cooler welded cause it was leaking p/s fluid...
