Anyone know if 15" rims will fit on the rear of the Marauder? Looking to mount drag radials and noone makes 16-18" in a comparable heighth.

As long as the lug pattern is the same you could put 13's" in there, just gotta compensate with the tire...

Well, I was not sure, because of the rear brake rotor sizes.

That would be an issue in the width of the tire and it's inset over the rotor. They're 11's" in the rear, so you should be fine with 15's" (I was just being sarcastic with the 13"... har har har...).

Coolio. Nitto's will be on the agenda.

Well, technically they are not mine, but the guy we are getting them for doesn't have the internet, so I am getting feedback for him. But he is keeping his old stuff.

You have to be careful, not just any 15" will fit. The caliper requires a certain backspacing and center for clearance. A 92+ 15" CV wheel will work. I had a set of 15x8s made that would not clear the rear caliper.

Thanks for the info. That was the plan to get a set of 15" Vic rims from the bone yard.

the sound of a post raising from the dead... eeeeekkkkkk
so did you guys figure out if 15" vic rims will fit the MM rears? I might want a set of 15" drag strip rims and then get some MT with that good old wrinkle wall!

They will fit, but you must grind a small amount off of the calipers.

Maybe the oldest yet...But, just hold on a few days more, darebren, k?
I'm heading out to our Cleveland meet this weekend and I'm bringing a set of MT "ET Streets" with me. I'm planning on testing these slicks to no end, because nobody here has done this for us yet. I could break a motor, but I could bust a myth too...
These ET Streets are bias ply slicks, which do not like to follow radials, but I have to test them more, k? PSI stuff needs to be looked at one more time.
If they work, or not, I'll let y'all know here Monday (5/24) I promise. No "wrinkle wall" stuff, we don't have that much torque. But, I know that already too. I do anticipate major traction from proper inflation, and the MT ET Streets may be worth it after all.
We'll see...K?

15" rims will fit in the rear. The rear brakes are small enough to fit inside of a 15" rim. The Crown Vic guys used to run 15's in the back when drag racing. But good luck finding a wide enough 15" rim with a high offset.
You could get away with a 17" Cobra R rim with Drag Radials but make sure your car isn't dropped too low so the tires won't rub because a set of 17x9 Cobra R rims will stick out about an inch further out that the Marauder rims.
You're best bet would be to get a set of widened MM rims with 305/45-18 Nitto DragRadial.

Man I hope it doesn't rain friday nite Mac, cause I am looking forward to seeing this test.
And BTW, I wasn't gonna say anything, but I bailed on widening the rims myself. I met an engineer from Alcoa here in Ohio at one of the dyno meets. His operation makes our wheels....and others, and lot's of other products and such. He told me a story about some pretty scary possibilities as a result of widening our wheels....and I wasn't comfortable with that.

Thanks, Barry, I read your post in another thread, and it's surely something to keep in mind. OTOH, there are many sets of modified wheels out here now, guess all we can do now is keep an eye on things.
I took my 9.5 wheels to another custom guy who complimented the qualty of the weld work to no end. He expressed the same "caution in general," but was very impressed with this particular project. Since I plan to use these wheels with 285/45 Pirellis in driving quite different from the drag strip, bewteen the two, failure should rise to the surface early on. Time will tell, eh?
BTW, I forgot to mention that my ET Streets are exactly 28" tall, with a 13" wide contact patch, mounted, screwed and tubed. They fit the car very nicely and I'm expecting better performance from them than my last experience with them on the track. I had the PSI stuff all messed up, and the OEM c*****l a**s in place.
I have my reservations about the 305 Nittos. IMHO, that's too wide of a tire for 9.5" rims. It's my view that the goal here is to get as close to 100% contact as you can with the track. Since nothing wider than a 9.5 wheel will fit the MM, my suggestion is to stick with the 285-295 family for the best total contact. Zack cranked a 12.19 not long ago on the BFG drag radial in 275/35, and he's almost perfectly flat and square on the deck. This is why I feel further testing is in order.

This is why I feel further testing is in order.I have used the BFG Drag Radials (295/40/18), which have a rated pressure of 44 lbs. I ran eight passes at 36 lbs. Judging by the wear, I intend to run them between 28-30 lbs next time in order to engage the outer 2 inches of the tire. I will report back on this trial, but I suspect these tires, which hook up great at 36 lbs will do even better at 30. I'm still interested in the ETs, so look forward to your report, Mac, on Monday! Be safe, have fun, and smoke some unsuspecting fool who thinks sedan racing is an old man's game. Ha!
