You dont have to remove either the back seat or the deck lid to install a replacement sub into the stock sub enclosure. The sub unbolts from in the trunk. 2 nuts in the front, 2 in the back. You will have to modify the enclosure for the 6.5 to fit.

its easy, my back seat is out now because i had to put my amp in the shop, just unbolt the lower straps underneath the outer seatbelts, and slide the seat back cushion up, for the lower cushion firmly push back towards rear deck to release it.
the deck mat is held in place by a couple push in plastic retaining plugs, just remove them, and slide out the entire rear deck mat, i had to remove mines to replace my rear speakers.
why not just unbolt the sub housing from the trunk?

No, sub can be removed from inside the trunk.

Just did this tonight. Takes longer to remove the spare then to remove the sub box.

I know sound is subjective, but how does the new kicker 6.5 sound in compairison to the factory unit. Was there any minor modification needed?
Did you insulate anything special to prevent rattles? I would like to do this soon as my sub is intermittent. I want a mild upgrade, it does not have to be the biggest and best. Thanks

Keep in mind the Kicker is a shallow sub. The shallow subs have a tendacy to deliver a flappy bass line. I installed a JL Audio 6.5" sub.
Music to my ear's!!!

it was a drop in deal other than i had to drill new holes to mount it ,no triming at all. but u cant use the isolater thats on top of the old one . it sounds way better than stock does ,but if you like high vol it does sound hollow/floppy a bit(kinda a thuding sound) and also pending the music u listen to. jazz, blues, classical, easy listening, most rock and r&b -full vol and clear , hip hop, rap, techno- 1/2 = 3/4 vol and clear

im going to make a trim ring to help seal the box back the rear deck and dynomat the deck to help get rid of the rattling , and i cant wait to upgrade the speakers now :)

I have said that for a while now. Shallow sub's give off a flappy bass line, you can try anttenuating it.

If you amplify noise..... YOU GET MORE NOISE!!!!!
