My Trliogized Marauder has about 450 rwhp. About a year and a half ago I broke the stub shaft clean in half during a "Spirited Driving Event". We removed and replaced the shaft but because everything was clean with no debris of anykind we did not do anything else to it.
Now, about 7500 miles later I am having 1-2 and 2-3 shift timing issues. This does not feel consistent with accumulator problems that I have experienced in the past. I checked the fluid and there is some clutch material and a slight burnt odor. I am suspecting intermediate clutch failure. My trans guy says these are the biggest clutches in the unit and it would be unusual for them to fail.
I am running this up the flag pole with you guys to see if anyone has had a similar failure, known concerns and potential parts upgrades to prevent another failure. Thanks.

Sounds like it's time for a hi performance rebuild w/ a hardened stub shaft. I had a similar problem, except in reverse - pun intended. My transmission wouldn't shift right. After the rebuild, the stub shaft let go.

Charlie,

My heart goes out to you buddy. But, if you want to hear from the King Of Transmission Problems, call Dave Popovich. Same types of problems and Lidio has rebuilt that trans many times.

On my transmission(s), once they got toasted they were never the same. You are almost better off buying a brand new one.

But Charlie, you are hitting that car very hard. I have seen what you have done to the performance and some of your drag racing adventures. I know it is a lot of money, but maybe you should consider a Lentech?

Good luck!

Jerry"

I assume that you have a trans cooler? Are you watching the Trans Temps? I would also change the fluid much more often. When is the last time you changed it -- I like to drain the trans pan every oil change - it should be on severe service schedule.

+1 on the comment about never being the same after a big failure. Good luck.

Sound advise indeed. I chose a different route and had my needs met. Is this intended for the OP?

"All of 'em can be fixed, some just take longer and cost more than others". I'll get it apart and see what I've got. Stay tuned...
