wiring issues?!

Good morning all,

I need some help Troubleshooting a possible electrical issue.
my head lights now need help turning on when driving at night.
they do not turn on automatically, like i have them set to, i have to turn the knob LOTS of times for them to come on.
The Fog lights come on no problem.
when i pull back on the Brights they will turn on, but when i push it forward they dont come on... until the headlights decide to work, then everything works fine... that is until the next time...
this seems to happen about once a week.

Sounds like the switch to me. Take it off and spray some contact cleaner in there.

Next time they do that, bang underneath the dash on the right hand side of the steering wheel. If they come back on, it's the relay. Know LCM problem and easy fix if you're ok with taking things apart and soldering. If not: PM http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=1670

Tassfrasca, you have the infamous LCM relay issue. Read the third sticky down in this forum. Then send a PM to fastblackmerc. He'll fix you up good as new...actually, BETTER than new because his fix is permanent. Save you huge money over having the dealer do it.
