If you are referring to the blower fan it is probably the resistor.
Blower control module is more than likely your problem

The problem is my cooling fan

I thought you meant the interior fan too. Sounds like the motor fried.

Yep... the motor is gone. Don't go aftermarket. There have been "thermal events" with aftermarket fans.

+1
The aftermarket ones fail within a few months then only work on high which makes it overheat and cause a fire.

PM 03mmmonroe, he's familiar with the problem, fixed bigdogjim's last year and can give you all the details.

I have checked the blower motor connector with a test light and it works (the light lights) so it is not the connector. I ran the test light from the negative pole to the blower and nothing. Can I say now that it is the blower motor? Why not aftermarket? What starts the fires?

Don't know what starts the fire, but there have been multiple reports of thermal events ie. fires when using the aftermarket fan/motor assemblies. Knowing this, I wouldn't use one.

Brother, I bought mine on Amazon.com and I haven't had an issue as of yet. I did go to Autozone and Advance Auto and was very frustrated!!! The fan blower motor and cage came together as one package for the price of the motor itself.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XX3ZTO. I paid $47.00.

Yes Russ is the man indeed!!

Like others posted do not go after maket.

Mined lasted as long as the trip from Lawrenceville, NJ to Charlotte NC.

The Ford replacement is not cheap but then again it better then trying to put a fire under the hood:)

I know this is an old post, yesterday I jump in the MM and the A/C compressor kicks on but the fan blower does not (interior). All O rings been changed by the way. I use my backhand and slap under the dash while in the driver side seat and bam it turns on. It appears that the resistor is on its way out. Thoughts, comments appreciated.

I'd love to know what you hit since the blower control module which is almost always the point of failure for this problem, exists under the hood on the passenger side mounted to the heater box.

The "kick under the dash on the drivers side" is the "oh no my headlights went out" lifehack.

O rings are for vacuum, not electrical.

Finally swapped the BCM, the old one was toast. You need patience with that part as well burped system.

You shouldn't have to remove the heater line to get that out!

If you have little elf hands maybe you don't need to pop the heater hose off...otherwise you do. Not much coolant comes out....Jmo

All you need is a couple bungee cords to hold heater hoses out of the way and a 1/4" drive flex socket for the BCM screws and a little patience = 15 minutes & done. No hose removal needed.
