I am in need of a shop that can remove chrome plating and paint to be powdercoated? My black wheels are in bad shape and in need of some serious refinishing.

Look for a shop that does bead blasting.

Look at Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists (http://www.awrswheelrepair.com/). They did my wheels (bead blasted them, removed all the old finish, repaired/removed road rash, rebalanced and powdercoated them). The results are at the end of this thread (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=70012). Each individual dealer is a franchisee, but all the work is done by the corporate headquarters in Texas (or California, for some things like chroming). I can't speak highly enough about the service and quality of the product. My cost, including shipping and everything, was $900 for four wheels. It took about two weeks (actually, it took longer, because it took a while before we could agree on the definition of what the color was that I wanted - we settled on 'make them the same color as M5 wheels' and that worked).

There's a place called Motomotion in Norwalk, Ohio (near me).
They did mine back in 2003.
They send them out to Michigan I believe...
