Drove to work last Friday in the rain and parked the car about 7:15 a.m. after a 45 minute commute. Went out at noon time to get some lunch, started the MM up and nothing but white smoke...lots of it!!. Turned it off and went..."Hmmmmm" WTF!! Started it up again and didn't touch the throttle and let it warm up. Check engine light came on and you could smell raw fuel. Stepped on the gas and white smoke again. Turned it off and had the wife come get me and decided to leave it there over the weekend just in case something got wet under the hood. My 5 year old grandson came over for a visit last weekend and after he left I couldn't find my one set of keys. So I had a busy start to the week and took my time looking for the keys...no good! Finally Wednesday I call the tow truck and have it towed to the local Ford dealer to get two keys and remotes done. Then they started it up and smoked out the whole service bay. So they asked to leave it overnight. Started diagnosing it yesterday and smoked all day. Started it today...and nothing. It runs fine now, with no issues. Is it possible something did get wet and finally dried out after being in the garage for a few days?? Anyone else have this issue or an idea what it is/was?? They are going to keep it a few more days to look at the fuel pump, etc. Just wondering...thanks.

Usually White smoke is an indication that Antifreeze got into the combustion chambers.

Or of course when you use the Sea Foam treatment.

Pull the dip stick and make sure there is no froth on it and look inside of the antifreeze tank to make sure there is no oil residue or froth in there as well.

I agree... White smoke usually means antifreeze in the combustion chamber. Does the smoke smell sweet?

Could be blown head gasket, warped block, warped head(s), cracked block, etc.

Thanks guys...looks like its a bad injector...freezing open and dumping raw gas. Just got to get it looked. It's okay now...just hangs every once in a while.

White smoke with a stuck injector doesn't seem to fit but if your sure about it being the issue Okay!

What he said^^^^

I'd run a can of Seafoam thru your fuel system.

Shouldn't to much fuel cause black smoke? Blue is usually oil and white is usually water related.

In most cases this is correct but the converters should keep it in check black smoke wise but they will run hotter and burn out faster as well as produce a lot more water coming out the tail pipes.

Also the stuck injector should pop a code and a solid check engine light.

I just remember what my dad told me and that was well before all this pollution crap that we deal with now. :)

I never heard of a stuck open injector causing white smoke before. I would also be careful because if its just dumping fuel you can detonate in that cylinder or fill the cylinder and hydrolock the engine. I would be watching my coolant level and checking the oil for contamination more frequently.

DAMN! :D Good one!
I have seen/smelled excessive fuel coming out of my tailpipes (no pun intended Casey!). It was like a white fog! Then I readjusted my maf xfer at idle, turned on adaptive learning, problem solved!

Nice one! I had a Chevy Venture van a few years back (great vehicle, by the way) and took it to a local yokel shop that has been around forever, I figured I'd throw them some business instead of the jiffy-lube across the street. Dude tried to tell me my van need all kids of crazy ass work done NOW before it exploded. I said "'Splain, please." Told me all kinds of B.S., including gas on my dipstick instead of oil. I played along for about 10 minutes then just went ultra-violent. I got a free oil and filter change, free air filter, free state inspection, even free wiper blades as long as I calmed down. Crankcase full of gas, yeah right. Friggin scam artist wannabe. I totally forgot about that crap. I should go back and see if they are still trying that stupid ****.
