Does anyone know the differences in the MM exhaust as compared to the CV/GM exhaust? I know ours have the tips and different mufflers, but is anything else different?
I ask because my MM got rearended on the very corner (hit the tip and pushed the whole thing forward) and bent the exhaust all the way up by the transmission (sideways in the middle). I am trying to stay with a factory stainless exhaust for rust purposes. Is the section with the crossover the same as the CV/GM or is it different diameter/mounting/other? Limited repair funds = looking for optional repair parts. Anyone anywhere near southeast AR have a used exhaust for sale?:help:

The parts are different. Since your the one that got rearended it's the other guys fault right? And you did file an insurance claim right? If so, tell his insurance company to make it like new.

Pipe diameter ... 2" - Crown Victoria / Marquis
2¼" - Marauder

It was the other guys fault, and yes I filed claim, but he had no insurance. So...I have to argue with mine and probably deal with losing a deductible. Also, I don't think all the parts are available new from Mercury anymore. I would rather find some used parts (and CV/GM parts are much easier to find) and have the money to get it fixed, than have to keep driving it bent.

I may need it and Byram is only about 3.5-4 hours away from me. How much would you need for it?
Depending on what is still available new, at what prices, and how much I can get out my insurance company will ultimately determine what I do.

If the MM pipe diameter is 2 1/4" and the others are 2", is that from the manifolds all the way to the tips, or just some sections?

Does anyone know if the police/taxi or sport packages made any difference on CV/GM exhaust?

All the way.

No difference in pipe diameter. P71 ( no tailpipe resonators ) and P74 with HPP ( tailpipe resonators ) have dual exhaust.

Resonators change the tone of the exhaust.

From Wikipedia:

Automobiles

"The exhaust pipes in automobile exhaust systems are designed as acoustic resonators that work with the muffler to reduce noise, by making sound waves "cancel each other out.
The "exhaust note" is an important feature for many vehicle owners, so both the original manufacturers and the after-market suppliers use the resonator to enhance the sound. In 'tuned exhaust' systems designed for performance, the resonance of the exhaust pipes is also used to 'pull' the combustion products out of the combustion chamber quicker."

Read your insurance policy concerning uninsured/underinsured coverage. I had to explain it to my agent once. It will probably not include a deductable. It's up to the insurance company to recover the total cost of repair from the perp, including the deductable....not your problem. That's what you're paying for.

+1, Bingo! We had to use our own insurance in 2010 to replace the wifes Passat when she was hit head on by a drunk. The drunk's insurance co fought tooth and nail to say it was my wife's fault. Never heard such BS in my life and believe me 34 years in LE, I heard a lot. The guy had pled guilty to all charges and they still fought it. Took about six months for GEICO to prevail, but thats in loserville NYS. You state may be more normal, intelligent, less communist and not interested in assisting the human waste products of the world over the working suckers, I mean people.

Thanks for the help everyone. I remember talking to the adjuster at my insurance office and he is the one that mentioned losing the deductible, but now I remember that was only if I filed it on my insurance to get it fixed faster and let the insurance companies fight it out later. My agent read through the uninsured part of my policy and said I wouldn't have a deductible.
I still have to verify part #'s and part availability on my estimates to make sure they listed the correct parts and $ amounts for them.

I am about to be out of town chaperoning a school trip for the next 3 days. If anyone else has any more info, please post it, but I may not be back to a computer till Thursday night or Friday. Thanks again!
