Has anyone else here had issues with their fog lights? I mean, obviously the one plug is in a horrible position (right in front of the wheel well), and I've had to cut the plug out and relocate the wiring to not be in the line of fire of rain and salt on both sides due to corrosion. But my passenger side lamp keeps coming apart - the socket will not stay in the housing. It fell out a while back and actually set the front of the car on fire, as the lamps happened to be on at that time (there is now a nice molten hole in the bottom of the bumper cover). And I just recently noticed that it fell out again. I hadn't been using them for a while since the wiring repair job I did to replace the plug by the wheel well was unsatisfactory and the passenger lamp wouldn't turn on. I went to redo my work since it was nice outside and I found the socket out of the housing again, but now the bulb was missing along with the o-ring on the socket. I will admit that I hadn't searched for this yet, but I was just curious about the commonality of the problem. If I'm just an idiot that can't seem to put a socket back in a lamp, I'm willing to accept that possibility, too.

The sockets have to be rotated about 1/4 turn to lock them into the socket.

Some kindly person broke out both of mine. Lenses and bulbs. I guess I will need 2 new ones? I love people who do these things. Wish I would have caught them, I would have helped them. RIGHT.

I think a baseball bat would have been a good tool to assist them.

The 2001-2003 Mazda MX-5 Miata fog lights have a spring lock that keeps the bulbs in place once locked in position.

Here are mine with HID bulbs

Concerning this, they were turned, but the passenger side lamp loosened itself up and fell out. Was fun the first time when I saw the flames coming from the front of the car. Well, once I get the new sockets, those clips should be really nice and handy. =)

I'm having trouble locating replacement sockets for the fog lights. I talked to my local Ford guys, but they don't have anything related in stock so they're not even sure what part to order except the entire lamp. What part do you have to order to get the socket?

Better idea just chop off their thumbs...kinda hard to do anything w/o thumbs.

Another thing to remember what goes around comes around!

Sorry to hear about your loss.

The bulb holder is not sold separately from the fog lights unless you find someone selling them used. I searched and searched for two to do my HID fog switch over but ended up buying new 01-03 Mazda Miata fog lights that came with the bulb holder.

I think I may have something of a solution here. I ordered a "bulb" but it supposedly comes with the socket and wiring. I'm crossing my fingers on this one that it does.

There was a kit Ford had when mine went south , it came with A pigtail W/ socket & heat shrink , I think it was the good kind Where, When you heat it up it ooze'z goo out of the end.
I could probably find it(part #) if given enough time.
