I have had my Trans Temp gauge installed for some time now and am finally getting around to installing the sending unit. I am installing it in the cooler hose. How did you ground the sending unit?

You ground the block that the lines and sensor go into.

You would get a better reading of trans temp not using the cooler line return but the hotter line from trans to cooler.

Correct... you want to know how hot the fluid is inside the tranny, not how cool it is after going thru the cooler.

You could screw it right into the test port on the drivers side front of trans. No mess, easy job, but keep in mind it will always read hotter because it is taking readings right after the torque converter.

This was the advice Darrin gave me when I did Bawazirs. I do not recall the average temp displayed, but it wasn't much higher than normal. Maybe ask TFB (??) as he bought Bawa's car.

why not just drop the trans pan, and install it in the pan?

why not just drop the trans pan, and install it in the pan?The fluid in the pan is what comes out of the cooler, so is always at the lowest temp.
