I'd call this "blatant Ford-ism."
I've become sort of hooked on the new Hawaii Five-0, and was watching the newest episode Monday night, when I noticed yet another situation where the bad guys drive Ford products. In Monday's episode, the bad guys go roaring off in a Ford Explorer during the teaser. A few episodes ago, the bad guys were driving a Mustang that got rolled in a car chase. Other examples abound.
I think we all know that Chevrolet has locked down sponsorship for at least the first season, since all the good guys' cars are Chevys (the Camaro, the Acadia, McGarrett's truck, all the Honolulu PD cars, etc.). Could it be possible that the same sponsorship deal also requires all the bad guys to drive Fords (which GM supplies)?
I'd sure like to know the "rest of the story."

No big deal on my end McGarrett's still got Dad's marquis and had it running a weeks ago! Only a matter of teim before they have to write some quailty time for the "old merc" :)

The first show or two had Ford products in it......
Would have been nice to see a Marauder as McGarrett's ride.

No, there's no precedent for any such thing. I've done that job (picture car wrangler/coordinator) for years up here and it always comes down to $$$. If anything, GM would want EVERY car to be their product. Also, Exploders are cheap, so if they had to write any off in stunts/crashes, they'd go for the cheapest vehicle possible while staying fairly current. Also, fleet cars are used whenever possible. I can't tell you how many times we rented feature cars from Budget/Hertz/Avis etc...especially Tahoes and SubTurbans.

yeah and it broke down on them
I see a pattern here
Years ago Ford figured out that providing cars to TV series was cheap advertising and historically in cases where there were "good guys" and "bad guys" the bad guys cars were often non-Ford products. Watch reruns of the original Perry Mason you'll find the bad guys are often driving GM products despite the tag saying vehicles provided by FMC, not the some vehicles provided by.

Yup, that's because the Ford "hero" cars had to be returned at the end of filming. But bad guy cars that would get banged up alot had to be bought on the cheap.

Then there was the gigantic debacle and fallout from the tv show "Viper" which changed almost everything....

Fringe is obviously sponsored by Ford being all their cars are new Edge's, Flex's or Navigators... they've even used SYNC a few times. I like to stick to Pro-Ford TV shows. :D

Love the new Hawaii 5-0.
But the GM product placement is so over-the-top it's ridiculous.
And Danno's Camaro makes crazy engine-revving noises at the oddest times, making the car seem fast but the editing odd!
And the "bad-guys-always-driving-Fords" is getting old... my wife is even laughing about it now!

I just worked on that show last week. Wrapping up until the next season shoots in mid June.
Actually, those cars were provided by a rental company that supplies the show. "Driving Force" is the name, and I think they have a deal with Ford. If we'd have gone with Budget here in Vancouver, the variety would be more since they have no allegiance to any one brand anymore.

It's always about who will give hand outs to make it the cheapest production/most profitable.
