Well, I started off the new year with some new mods after "the" ball dropped and spent some time in my garage tonight.

First, my battery has been dying for a while (wouldn't hold a charge for more than five days or so) and I have just been too busy to deal with it. I wanted the dealer to just give me a new battery under warranty so that I could make the swap myself. Dealer said no, they would need the car to test all electrical systems. Yeah, um right. Let me leave my car with the dealer for two days so they can crap it up and take it joy riding. Thanks, but no thanks. So I got a Motorcraft 65 Series battery (same case size as is stock), but upgraded to an 825 CCA (cold cranking amps) model. That represents an increase of about 30 percent over the stock 650 CCA model. This should hold up better for me, especially since I run my headlights whenever I run the car. Also, I sometimes go for a few weeks without driving the MM (did I mention that work sucks....). This new battery should do the trick for me.

Next, I replaced my air filter with a K&N model. I know, I know, no proven gains, I just like the filter technology offered by K&N and I got a great price on it thanks to a recommendation by a friend on the site. When I swapped out the filter, I cleaned out the air box. Man i t was filthy!! Leaves, dust, sand. I will be cleaning the interior of the airbox sooner.

Now I will be set for the couple of hundred mile road trip that I have planned for tomorrow.

Oh well, I better go get some sleep.

Wow life in New York is hard on Batteries, I think You will be happy with the K&N and thanks for the heads up as soon as sun comes up will be checking my air box.

Happy moding new year to all!

I plan on redoing some intercooler stuff. A replacement for one of the Eldlebrock IAS rear shocks will be going on. There was no gas pressure on it, but installed anyway. The IAS made a huge improvement for me. (But you MM guys have a much better stock setup than I started with) And it's about time to finish my exhaust system, have nice Reinhart up front, but stock 1.75" rear.

Looking forward to the SCT Tuning software to release the 4-program flip chip. I have some evil tranny ideas want to try out. Lets just say one of the modes is reserved for an aggressive mood.

I'm still running my stock battery. It performed similar to yours at that age too. I just plan on sticking a battery charger on it after sitting more than 4 days. Of course Houston is much easier on batteries though. You'd think they'd build a trickle charger into those block heaters....

I have a simple procedure to ensure that most of the time someone will not take my car on a joy ride. I tell that organization and person that I have noted the odometer reading.

This eliminates most of the joy riding.

mmmm.....MODS...

Well... Christmas took quite a bite out of the 'ol wallet this year, Sooo the performance mods will have to wait a few months.:(

What I really need to do is wash and Zaino her! She is very dirty, and not in a good way! lol

I guess I'll check the air box too, I'm sure mine's filthy too. I used to detail under the hood at least once a week, but now that I'm working 50 hours a week I just don't have the time... sigh...

Drive Safe Marty!
