I just found the cause of the subwoofer rattling on muy car. In the past, if I put my hand on the pannel to the rear of the sub, the rattling went away. I removed the rear speaker cover thing and the rattling has gone away. Appearently the rattling is coming from the pannel vibrating against the rear windshield. I have removed the foam peice in the sub and it made it a little worse. How to fix?

Steven, I removed the foam cutout over the subwoofer as well as the shaped piece that seems to be part of the subwoofer enclosure assembly.

I may put the shaped black piece back but so far it sounds great.

I also discovered that two of the four mounts for the subwoofer enclosure were loose. I removed the enclosure, tightened up the hardware and then reinstalled the enclosure. It is much better now; no rattle and no vibration.

I went and bought some two 10x10" sheets of dynomat and cut them into six strips. I put them in the crack of where the windshield meets the shelf and it's all better now!

The dealer replaced it with another one. They thought it was blown (but I knew it wasn't). But what the hell, free is free! Still an OEM sub. I even put the foam thingy back in.
