View Full Version : Kinda wondering if I did the right thing with 255/55s all the way around...

Right now I'm at a point where I'm trying to save as much money as possible to buy a house.. So the ability to rotate my tires for maximum tire life is a must..

My front Falken ST/Z 01 235/50s were getting pretty bad as I was able to squeeze a little over 30,000 miles on them in two years.. Which wasn't bad at all. I was GOING to just replace them with the same thing, but apparently Falken stopped making them in that size.... So since my rears still have a decent amount left, I put the same size as my rears, up front.

I will say, the car seems to drive VERY smooth and there's no rubbing whatsoever. I do love the wider footprint.. I can feel the difference in handling. But as I walk around my car, it just doesn't look right anymore! Maybe it will grow on me..... I hope so.. I'm sure once I'm settled in my new house I'll be looking to go back to a smaller front again when the time comes...

I did notice as I got on the highway that I started to lose power around 60ish.. To which I saw the TC light coming on. Luckily since I'm driving a Black 300A I just switched my TC off... :P I didn't notice it though until I got on the highway... Any thoughts?

Anyway, here's a picture of it. It rained last night here in North Florida, so there's water spots on the car.. I'm about to go out and wash it... :P

Don't be too harsh on me! :hide:

If you have TC then you don't have a '03 300A.

Your MARAUDER looks fine. Use up the tires and when its time for new ones you can always switch back. No worries, the purchase of the house is waY more important... trust me!

Interesting. I thought the transition period from A to B was before your indicated build date.

Surprised you don't have tire rub issues especially when turned full lock; I tried 'em and had rubbing.

Hey. I think it looks a little monster truckish. But if you can remember to turn off the TC everytime. Do it. Buy your home instead. That's more important!! Hope you can buy a house soon as I think you'll have more gratification from that!! Good luck.

Yes, the home should be your first priority.

Just remember to turn off the T/C every time you start the car.

It used to be mine, I can tell you it has the long overhead console, map pockets, remote gas cap AND traction control.
As far as the house, NOBODY is pulling for you more than me, Mr. BlkRauderMatt!:D
Still love ya though...

Wow, so it must be one of the last of the decontented A models, interesting bit of info.

+1 on buying a home, IMO, still the best investment a person or couple can make.

I think tires look to big for the front,i like the staggered look myself fills up the wheel well to much.plus will give you more rolling resistance ,hence gas mileage.my .02.

There comes a time in everyone's lives where priorities must be set, so if you can get longer tire life, and that helps you buy a home, and that is what you want to do, then so be it. For me, I'm not married, so I rent. I have a lovely place, that is probably bigger than what I need, and what I save in property taxes, I invest in stock. But that is my prioritiy. Everyone is going ot have different priorities for different reasons. If you still love driving you Marauder and that helps you save money, then godspeed y friend.

Though when it is financially permissable, personally I love the profile of the Marauder with smaller front tires, but we all have to do what is economically feasible for each others own given situation
