Finally cracked into the 12's!

First time out with the new transmission/convertor after replacing the broken stocker over the winter. It took a few passes to learn how to launch it again, then I ran 3 13.0 passes in a row, which was the best I was able to do at the end of last season. It still felt like there was more in it, the drag radials seemed to be slipping a bit more than I wanted them to.

Last pass of the night, just before they shut down the track for the evening I managed to get a 12.885@104.2mph. The tires hooked hard on that run, cutting a 1.811 60' flashing the convertor.

It sure does, now I just need to save enough $$$ for the engine swap so I can turn up the wick. I think I'm maxxing out my E.T. vs trap speed with this build as it stands now. I don't really want to push my luck much more with the stock internals, so I'll keep running it as is until it's time for the next stage.

The Lentech transmission really makes a difference. Some friends in the stands overheard other spectators asking if there was a manual swapped in and I was powershifting. I still have the electronic trans controls set at the stock levels, all the firmness is in the valvebody. It's shifting harder now on the than the j-mod and line pressure increase from last season.

Not bad at at all with the 3.4. It was murder trying to get anything 12's with that pulley it seemed. Any mistake at all, and right back to the 13's...

What was your 60' & trap speed on the 13 flat runs?
Way up in altitude too? Nice!!!

MPH was in the 102-103's for the 13.0 runs, 60' was 1.87-1.89 range. I think it was a combination of cooler air and a bit more agressive launch. I dropped the tire pressure from 20 to 18psi for the last couple runs and was pretty much able to stand on the throttle on the last yellow.

list of mods:
Trilogy w/3.4 pulley
4.10's, Cobra clutches
control arms
Kooks LT's, x-pipe, 18" Magnaflows
K&N CAI
Lentech trans w/ 2800 stall convertor(unlocked at WOT)
305/45/18 MT DR

Update:

I ran the car again last weekend and was able to get a 12.715 @ 106.59mph with a 1.809 60'. The DA was at 2308', but there was a bit of a tailwind to help out. The track runs to the west and it's quite rare to have an easterly wind that's not part of a storm system; we're normally running into the wind.

Good choice on the trans and converter stall speed.

Those are some nice numbers 99:banana2:My best (I suck at drag racing.... Only do it once twice a year, but love it:)) is a 12.73 with a 3.0 pulley & stock exhaust... My trap was 107.9 mph. Keep up the good work!

Nice Run. With the exhaust set up did you retune your car? What are your hp and tq numbers?

Yes, I needed a retune after the exhaust. The car made 369hp 336tq on a MD600. The dyno numbers don't mean much unless you know that particular dyno, the owner sets the load up on it rather aggressively, it's a bit of a heartbreaker for dyno #'s. When the car was mostly stock it only made 216 at the wheels on the same dyno.

What kind of dyno do they use?

Ya I had a black 04. I also had 2 mustang gt with manual transmission. Im gona try not to wreck this one but im gona start buildin a p71. In this video this guy dynos a stock p71 and it had about the same rwhp as the merc. except now he has a turbo and a lil over 300 rwhp, bone stock p71 (except turbo @6psi ) So you got a stall converter?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA1ZC5E6bRM&feature=feedrec_grec_index I'm not a fan of remote mount turbos but that car had a clean setup.
I would rock that car just like that.
