I am putting BLUE up for sale :( My son will be graduating HS at the end of May and he'll be needing financial help to get him started at college. To me, this is a TOP PRIORITIES of mine. I'm asking $16,000.00 and I have the title in hand. Check the attached link for a few pictures. If anyone is interested, please email me at.... triplem399@hotmail.com and I can send more pictures as well as the complete history (all that I'm aware of) of the car. It's a sad, but again....... PRIORITIES! The car has been meticulously maintained (I keep records) as well as interior/exterior. As the car sits now, there are 47,509 miles on her. The car has a clean CarFax and if needed, I can provide a copy of the report.

Pictures..... http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=67101&highlight=ready+for+winter

I have nothing to hide, so please ask as many questions about the car and I'll be happy to answer all :D

Was blue ever a factory color or was it always custom? It seems like alot of Blue Marauders ive looked at were clones and they tryed to use the Marauder name to make some more cash. Im just trying to learn some more about them.

They made what guys, 328 blues?

Mike, seems like just a short time ago you let the black one escape the garage, now the blue. That sucks man, but as a father, I definitely understand. Stick around Buddy, we have many BBQ's to in our future.

Anyone not in the know, words can not describe the condition of this car, or explain his OCD like passion for care and upkeep.

Yes, BLUE was a factory color. There were 328 of them produced with mine being #113 :D

Sorry to hear this Mike. :( But understand that you gotta do ... what you gotta do. College is getting awfully expensive with tuition, R&B and fees. Hope you get your full asking price ... it is definitely worth every penny.

Very sad news Mike, but a very commendable thing you are doing. A father that wants the best for their children and is willing to make sacrifices to that is tops in my book.

And +1,000,000 pn the quality of this fine ride. If I hadn't just paid mine off I would be all over this.

Good luck Mike

Mike; I learned a couple of lessons with my four. Three completed college, the fourth wasn't interested.

The first one. I did what you are attempting, paid the bill till the fourth year and he dropped out. However, after his Army tour he saw the light reinstated himself and got his degree at his expense. Makes a six figure income. Big financial investment but all in all not a loss.

The second one. Went to a state school that was very reasonable (at the time) and signed an agreement with dear olde dad that there would be no drops, no grades below a C and all courses on target or I withdraw my support.

She did great until the senior year where she made a D on a course. She retook the course at her expense and graduated.

The last one went on a 75% scholarship. Partied for two years and lost daddy's help and the scholarship. However, he also saw the light, obtained student loans, buckled down and graduated. He went on to get his Masters at his expense. Didn't cost me too much.

What's the lesson? Let them get scholarships, loans, work part time and they do better, even if you could afford to pay their way. A large percentage of kids flunk out of college in their first year, so it's a crap shoot.

If your son is serious about college, has the mental discipline to preserver and is intelligent enough to qualify then he's able to paddle his own canoe.

All you really need to do is buy a few clothes and a pizza now and then.

Now I'm assuming a lot, this is just based on a reading of your post.

So don't sell "Blue" until you see how the first year pans out.

WOW!! Just WOW!! Just 4 weeks ago I saw you wiping that blue turd down one fine Kentucky morning. I asked you, "Mike. Why are you wiping your car this morning before we all go home?" You told me, "Joe. I am trying to wipe off this blue crap to let the DTR shine!!" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

^^^^^True story^^^^^
He'll deny it.

Well my friend good luck with selling it. Though I agree with Pat above. Keep it. Theres so many financial options and plus working. But I hope it all works out in that you may keep it or buy another DTR!!!:)

See how he pans out the 1st and 2nd year of school. Then maybe sell it.
I hope he achieves good grades and such so as to justify your sacrifice.
See ya around buddy.

Sorry to hear Mike. But why not send to local community college for gen eds then transfer to school of his choice? It saves a ton of money up front and it's easier in my opinion.

I literally bought my MM (nearly new) when I was at moraine valley, I paid for school myself, and pay for my car myself. I transferred to UIC for electrical engineering and am doing school loans for the rest of it, all in all I'll probably be in debt no more than 15-20k when I'm done soon.
Employers don't care if you went to a 2yr college and transferred, as long as you're good at what you do you'll be fine.

I agree 100% - my own experiences after high school taught me that when my kids go, daddy's only paying for A's and they'll have to pay for everything else. You just don't try as hard when mommy and daddy are paying.

This car looks beautiful and if I didn't already own mine I would definately chase after it. Good luck with the sale if you decide to keep on with it!

I can agree with the 3 of you, but right now, I can't tell you how hard he has looked and hasn't found a job (good thing he still lives at home with his Mother). It's sad to hear him say that he went to a UPS store and old (no offense to anyone) people work there as well as many other job opportunities. As everybody knows, the job market sucks!! and that's not helping him much. If I didn't have the financial obligations that I have right now, I wouldn't be selling BLUE but this will be best for him in the long run.

Pat, I do like you idea for the "agreement" :D

Hey Mike, man I sure wish I could buy your car. I get it though. We are still paying for my wife's student loans. She decided to go back and get her degree after being out for twenty years. Now she will be staying home with our new baby. Cars are just things. Granted sometimes they only produced so many. But they are still just nuts and bolts with pretty color. This coming from a true car nut is hard to say, but true. GLWS and a bump for a sweet ride!!

I 2nd that. Military is a great option especially with the" Post 911 GI bill" If he is able, the Airforce is probably the best option.

I know, I know, here starts the fights of whos better. I've been in the Army for 26 years and wished I'd taken the Airforce route.
