View Full Version : Closer to 11's
So went to the track with my new MT drag radials P305/45R18 mounted on GT500 wheels. The fitment is perfect keeps the tires off the shock and inside the fender wells. With the tires at 18psi car dead hooked off the line but wobbled a little on the big end and freaked me out so I lifted:P, it would have been fine if I stayed in the gas. So I only got a solid 1/8 mile run
reaction--- .5671
60ft------- .1.7347
330ft------ 5.0189
1/8 ET----- 7.7430
1/8 MPH--- 89.24
Using http://www.wallaceracing.com/8th-quarter.php that would be a
12.16 at 110.66 mph. I don't think my conservative street tune will crack the 11's without installing the headers and PSRI I have in waiting so you stock block Florida guys are safe for now;)

I accidentally had my tire pressure at 15 psi and got my best run---same tire set up--heat them and go for it--they only raised 2 psi on return --checked before each run---you may want to try that---....got a tenth better each time--quit for the day with my sig. ---still plenty there to play with some more----

That 1/4 mile estimate sounds dead right accurate to me. My times - 1.735 60' 7.880@88.89 1/8 mile resulted in 12.37@109.
Congrats man!

If there is a wobble something is WRONG. I have run 17-18psi w/ a trap of 117mph with no wobble. I have spoken to dozens of other who run the same MT and all have reported no wobble with traps up to 130mph.
Are you using the MTT-3786R ET Street Radial 305/45R18?
IF so figure out what is wrong, bent wheel, square tire, bad track, improper mounting on hub, etc.

Yep those are the tires I mounted and roadforce balanced them myself the rims are true and the tires tested fine. Car only did it the 1st time. On the 2nd run I lifted the guy in the left lane was sliding into my lane probably 100ft out but still hit 105 mph at the end and the car felt fine. I blame it on the track and/or a freak wind gust it was pretty windy. I took those two run as a sign and called it a day

My suggestion is next time go with 25psi and a soft launch just to test the top end. Then drop the pressure to 20psi as a second test run.
I always walk up to the water box/launch area and observe a few. I then ask guys who have run how the track is.
I always remember if there is dew on the roof there is due on the track.
It is not worth wacking the wall.

I here ya that's why I packed it up and drove my car home instead of having to tow it home:lol:.

I have that same size tire on my widened rims and had no wobble at all in high gear, even when i topped her out on the highway against a C-63 amg, something must be off in the rear.

Seeing as it only happened the one time I blame it on a crosswind or the track. Also I hope you weren't running your tires at 18psi on your sprint if so your crazy if not your experience would seem to be irrelevant
